Extended rear facing seat suggestions

Hello,

Has anyone got suggestions for extended rear facing seats? DS is only 22 months old, but already 16.5kg, currently is a joie 360 spin, but that only goes up to 18kg, which is apparently up to age 4!

Anyone got suggestions on seats that are extended rear facing? Thank you!!

Do you have a budget? I would recommend a 25kg seat. The axkid MiniKid seems to be the holy grail but there are many others!

Low budget:
Britax TwoWay Elite (only available from InCarSafetyCentre, usually £180 but when I was considering buying this it was £160 Shock)
Britax MaxWay (typically around £180)
Axkid Move (more basic version of the MiniKid, approx £225)

Mid range:
Britax MaxWay plus (again, like the normal MaxWay yet has more features)
Diono radian 5 (a Marmite seat, both rear and forward facing to 25kg with harness. The other ones that FF only use harness to 18kg)
Britax HiWay (again only available at InCarSafetyCentre, like the TWE but is Swedish plus tested)

High range:
Britax MultiTech (similar to the Evolva, but RF to 25kg)
Axkid MiniKid (the holy grail!)
BeSafe izi plus
Klippan century (only available at ICSC)

If you’re not in England there is also the maxi Cosi Mobi. Smile

I love my axkid minikid 😊

@teaandlotusbiscoff thanks so much!! No set budget, but don't want to spend too much iyswim. I'll take a look at those you've suggested.

I now realise that extended rear facing is 18kg, but I meant more than that so yes 25kg sounds a good amount, thanks so much!

25kg is the highest weight class for rear facing you can get at the moment :) There is meant to be a longer lasting one coming out by Klippan but it's not here yet.

I'd swap the Max Way Plus and Multi Tech around in that list :) MWP has better recline and harness adjustment than MT. And I think the HiWay is pretty similar to the original MaxWay so I'd probably rule it out on price grounds (just doesn't offer anything that other seats already do for cheaper).

You can get the TWE for £160 still if you import from Tony Kealy's (Ireland).

Most children do slow down their weight gain at 2 but you may be looking at booster seat from age 5 as he might be out of the limit of the 25kg seats by then. When you're buying a booster don't worry about the 36kg limit on them. As the child is held by the car's seatbelt the weight doesn't matter, it's only that it's the end of the standard and they couldn't legally be certified any higher than that. Newer ones are certified differently so won't have that weight restriction, but it's fine to use a 36kg booster seat over that weight as well.
