Depends what pushchair/ travel system you're planning on getting. Most pushchairs have maxi cosi adaptors (icandy, bugaboo, phil and teds etc) alternatively look at travel systems that come with a car seat.

Also i suggest you look for a car seat that comes with a base as this makes getting in and out the car so much easier!

ICandy peach with a maxi cosi car seat.

Laura1348 · 26/04/2020 20:36

@dochas06 I didn't know you could mix and match...
This is all new to me and only the internet to help- it's not the clearest.
Thank you

@AndddddHerewegoagain I don't know what I'm getting as I don't get most on what I'm seeing/ reading.
Thanks for your advice about the base- I had seen these and thought they looked good.
Thank you

This may help! I have an icandy. Its very sturdy but very heavy. My friends bugaboo in comparison feels like a feather when pushing it!

@AndddddHerewegoagain I will check the link out. Thank you.
When you say sturdy would you say good for country living rather than town? I live in a rural village. Thank you

Both Maxi Cosi and Nuna are good makes of car seat :) They both go on the same adapters, so any pram that says it will take a Maxi Cosi, will take the Nuna car seat as well.

The Nuna one comes with the base, with Maxi Cosi you have to buy them separately (but can often get a bundle).

My tip would be to look at some mid range pushchairs as well. Joie for example and Cybex's gold range both have some reasonably priced pushchairs which have almost all the same features as the megabucks ones.

I have an uppababy vista and love it, we got the maxi cosi car seat when we bought it two years ago, but I think they have their own now.

If you live rurally and need to go off road, you'll need to get something specially made for that. I think the brands you should be looking at are Out n About, Babyjogger and Mountain Buggy, but I'm no expert on off roaders.

I would choose the travel system and then choose a car seat that matches it as there's more variation in the features of the buggies than the car seats.

Are you getting out for walks, and do you see people around? I found it useful to see what people in my area use.

BertieBotts · 26/04/2020 21:22

Almost all "big" brands of buggy will take the Maxi Cosi type adapters. It's only the budget type ones which don't, generally things like Graco, Chicco, Hauck, Kinderkraft.

There are even some brands which have their own car seats, but will also allow you to buy adapters to fit a maxi-cosi or Nuna. For example, Venicci, Silver Cross, Cosatto. And Britax pushchairs also do a Maxi Cosi adapter.

@BertieBotts thanks very much. This is great information to take in and more brand names to try- great stuff. Thanks.

@MindyStClaire thanks. We are going out (on our daily walk!) it done see many people. Also- I'm a rural village but I'm
Not sure if that's off road or not compared to what the companies mean. Wink
I've got a few more to look into- thanks

If it's got all big wheels, you'll be OK even in properly off road - you can take them anywhere, but they are massive and need a giant car boot. If you have the two big, two small wheels arrangement commonly referred to as "All terrain" or "All rounders" they tend to fold pretty small, and are fine for things like a well-trodden mud path in a wood, mown grass, cobblestones, but will struggle on long grass or more. If it's got all small wheels, then it's only of use in a shopping centre or pavement.

Actually the Venicci Ultralite is one of my favourite car seats - it's an import/rebrand of the Avionaut Pixel which is hugely popular at the moment in Europe but hasn't made it to the UK (except under Venicci). No idea what their prams are like, though. The car seat also goes onto maxi cosi adapters so you can use it on any of the others.

Cybex, Joie, Besafe and Recaro also go onto the same adapters.

@BertieBotts gosh! Thanks. I've spent ages looking so this will all be very helpful. Thank you

Has anyone got the graco evo r44? I read some reviews from years ago that weren’t very good for the car seat, but wondered if these issues have been sorted out now? Thanks
