Silver cross wayfarer

Hey guys hoping someone can help and has the same buggy. I've recently just got the silver cross warfarer of my cousin for my baby due in a few weeks. She's given me the car seat with the buggy extra. Included is some adapters for the car seat? Which I'm gathering is so that the car seat can connect to the frame, however I'm wondering about an isofix base ? I really hoped it came with one tbh but she said it doesn't. However I'm wondering if it is compatable with any isofix base or a universal one ? I've had a research online and can't find any info so hopefully someone on here can tell me :) 3 child and after seeing how easier and after it looks for my friend with a young child and isofix base I really want one. Obviously with Everything going on atm I don't really even know if I will be using it much :/ but positively thinking I should get one?

As far as I remember, you can get an isofix base for the car so you can just click the seat in, but you need the adaptors to fit the seat to the pram frame.

Abbyd222 · 21/03/2020 12:30

Thanks @modge did you have the same buggy ? And where would I get them from? Online or maybe halfords ?

You have to get a silvercRoss isofix base, we have this system at the moment. They are available on amazon and John Lewis but probably other places too

ChangeOfName2020 · 21/03/2020 12:57

I had the Wayfarer. Had an Isofix too... I went to Mothercare and they ensured I had the right one and helped me fit it.

Abbyd222 · 21/03/2020 13:04

Thank you. How much do did you pay? As I've seen some for way over 100.

And oh oka thankyou isn't mother care gone now though? The one where I live shut down ages ago

Yes, you can get in different places but need to check it is compatible with Silvercross Smile

Abbyd222 · 21/03/2020 13:07

Do you guys think the isofix is worth it ? I was thinking for quick and easing school runs in and out of car. Ovs no school runs for a while now so I'm quite undecided if I should get one. However I think safely wise is makes a huge difference doesn't it ?

We had the car seat and isofix base. It's really handy as it just clips on. I definitely thought it was worth it.
Much quicker than faffing with seatbelts and you know it's in correctly every time.

Abbyd222 · 21/03/2020 13:11

Thanks modge. Think online or ringing halfords is my best bet atm. Doubt u should be going a getting cat seats fitted?

Yes it's best to get car seats fitted into your car. However infant seats tend to be pretty universal and fit into most cars. If you want the base it would be a good idea to check the fitting list. If your car is on the list, then great - no need for a fitting (although you might want to just to see the angle, practicality, front passenger space, etc).

You're looking for the Simplifix base. It is over £100 new. Personally I think isofix bases are a bit overpriced, as IME it doesn't take much longer just to belt the seat in, but DH insisted that we get one and he thinks it was worth it.

If you are going to seatbelt fit it just make sure you know how to do it correctly :) Isofix bases are good in that they remove the margin for error. Generally though infant seats are easy to fit:

  1. Lap belt over where baby's legs go, into guides, plug in, pull tight.
  2. Diagonal belt around back, keep tight, slot into guides.
  3. Check position handle is meant to be in and ensure (this is important).
BertieBotts · 22/03/2020 09:12

It doesn't make any difference in safety, except for making it much less likely you'll fit it wrong.

Abbyd222 · 22/03/2020 12:28

Thanks for reply guys:) appreciate the info. Only passed my test after the first two so this will be the first time im driving with a new born! Haha kinda nervous but I'm sure it will all go ok. I Think thats so expensive maybe not the right thing to be putting money into right now if it makes no difference on safety. Thanks for the info I can ponder and make my mind up over the cuming weeks

You can get the SilverCross simplifix (their isofix) however it’s super easy to fasten with a seatbelt if it’s the simplicity car seat you literally just do what @BertieBotts said and all the places for the seatbelt are bright blue to make it even simpler.
Personally I think isofix is too expensive especially for infant seats as you won’t get more than a year and a half at a push out of them.

newmummyessex · 22/05/2020 20:39

My friend got some isofix off a second hand site and said they were perfect. You could message and ask if they have some as they don’t always have all their stock online? www.pramsy.com was the site I think or Co.uk
