Using BubbleBum boosters

Normally erf but considering bubblegum booster for dc1 6yr and dc2 4yr for holidays in July in the Algarve.

Am I mad or any suitable alternatives? Also have dc3 1yr who we will take twe for. Have previously hired car seats and they have always been filthy, ill fitting or downright dangerous.

Apologies for posting twice or opinions on trunki booster seats?

We have a Trunki, we used it in Majorca for our DD1 who was 6 1/2 at the time and will take it with us again in May (she's 8 now). I really like it, it's quite 'thick' so it will lift your 4 year old up a lot higher than the Bubblebum. But it's fairly heavy to carry, your 4 year old would complain! From that point of view the Bubblebum would be better.

We've had similar experiences with hired seats too, so I'll be taking our Joie Stages for our younger daughter when we go away in May. She'll be 5 by then, but currently only weighs 14.5kgs so she's still rear facing and I wouldn't put her on a backless booster even if she does get to 15kgs by May!

If there was any way you could take a high backed booster for your 4 year old that would be the best thing for him, but I think it would be very easy for it to get broken in transit unless you check it in in a cardboard box with bubble wrap around the seat inside.

You'll not get a high backed booster from a hire company so I think the Trunki/Bubblebum option is the best option for your 4 year old if you can't take a full booster.

Thanks Alice. Will prob get the trunki for dc1 and then see if we will be able to fit in a hbb and twe nicely in a big bag! We will also be constrained by not knowing the size of the rental car till we get there!

We used a bubblebum one holiday. It did the job although dd was older. Cover not hardwearing though.

We bought Bubblegums for our twins. Great concept but had to replace one twice as it wouldn't stay inflated. They aren't high and the children do wobble about on them and they're not cheap! We replaced with Trunki backpacks too and although undoubtably heavier, they're also much sturdier. We've used them as everyday seats and on planes, in airports & in hire cars. The children feel so grown up packing their toys.

Feels hard compromising on erf.

DD uses a Trunki seat when we travel. We check it in with DS's group 1seat, in a giant car seat bag. This also has the advantage that it has to go through outsize baggage and they can't weigh it at check in as it's too wide (and they don't weigh car seats anyway). I may fill it with toiletries and other dense items......

Haha we used pack a whole extra bag to go in the car seat bag with dc1 car seat!
