Extended rear facing advice

Long story so try and bear with me.

Dd1 is three and still rear facing.

When we were buying her next size up car seat from her baby one, there were fewer options on the market than there are now so we went with a joie stages for hubby's car and a hauck varioguard for mine.

Dd2 is now 8 months and was using the cybex Aton car seat. She is very petite and not yet 16lbs so we thought we'd get ages out of the baby seat before having to think about this. However the baby seat tipped onto its side when I was going around a corner a few weeks ago (installed correctly with seatbelt) and so I am very wary of using it. I don't see the point in getting an isofix base for it now at this point and think we would be better just getting her the next stage up seat.

My plan was to put her in the varioguard and get a new seat for dd1 which would do get a bit longer than four but I really would prefer to keep her rear facing as long as possible. So far I've come up with the britax two way elite as a possibility.
I also can't decide what seat to get dd2 for my car (going to put the varioguard in hubbys). I like the look of the cybex sirona but not sure about the bar that comes down rather than the harness.

This is giving me a giant headache and a financial one as I'm still on Mat leave and buying two new car seats is not cheap. Anyone any suggestions?

There are a couple of other Britax ones that do up to 25kgs, my 3 1/2 year old (petite, she's about 27lbs and 91cm tall) is rear facing in a Britax Multi Tech II, and a friend has the Maxway for her 3 year old son. The Axkid seats are good ones, although not as widely available.

As for the Sirona, isn't the impact cushion just for forward facing? If you use the seat rear facing up to 18kgs you won't even need to use the impact cushion.
