Do any 0+ seats/bases fit a Peugeot 406 estate?

Twins due in late May and car seats are one of the remaining big things to get. Finding a rear-facing 0+ seat & base combination that'll fit ^properly in DH's Peugeot 406 estate (no ISOFIX) is proving to be a real hassle and we'd welcome advice from MN-ers who've found a solution!

We were planning to buy a Maxi-Cosi Pebble + EasyBase 2. Visited a local baby specialist this week to try them out... they don't fit well due to the slope of the car's seats which means the baby seat is - according to the specialist - too upright for a newborn or low weight baby. There's also a bit of buckle crunch.

When we tried to install the Pebble with just a seat belt it's a real faff because the seat belt's quite short compared to modern cars, and it again results in buckle crunch.

Maxi Cosi's Cabriofix fits ok with just a seat-belt (the specialist did say "that's safe"), but we would - if it's possible - prefer the ease of use of a base, and ability to mount the seats on a pram.

Have other 406 owners found combinations that work? All ideas gratefully received.

We've bought a Mountain Buggy Duet pram which does limit our choice of baby seat if we want to be able to mount them on the pram, but getting baby seats which fit properly in the car is more important.

Oh... and my car is a 3-door Corsa which Maxi-Cosi says will be fine with the Easybase 2, but getting the Duet in the boot is a whole different matter...! Smile

try the britax fit finder as it will tell you if any of their seats/bases will fit the car

My mum and dad had a 406 when DS was born, it was the 4 door saloon not the estate but I imagine the seats and seatbelts would have been the same.

Anyway, my Britax infant carrier would not fit due to the seatbelts being too short to go round it. It was a Cosytot infant carrier (DS is now 9) but the current Babysafe infant carriers are still exactly the same all these years later. So if you're looking at Britax you'll need the belted base and again that might tilt the infant carrier too 'upright' for a newborn.

The seat that did fit, with a base (because you could only use it this way, fitting without the base was not possible) was the Mamas and Papas Primo Viaggio. I do know that they have updated that one since I had it, but it could be another one to try.

Thankyou for the pointers - we'll try those at the weekend. Fingers crossed!
