Disappointed with Britax Max Fix - poor recline & headv falls forward

We've recently moved my LO into a Britax max fix. He's 15 mths. Even on full recline his head tips forward badly when he sleeps. The full recline is hardly reclined at all on fact. I know ERF seats aren't great at reclining in general but I'm so disappointed with this. Our car is on the approved fit list by Britax for this seat and we got it fitted at our local Mothercare. The recline issue has only become apparent with use. It's so uncomfortable for him. I'm dreading making any long journeys with it e.g. at Christmas. Has anyone got any tips or solutions please? As a side note, when looking online photos of the seat fitted in other cars in real life the whole thing seems more reclined IYSWIM? My DH says the back seat of my car - the bit you actually sit on and where car seat base sits - is slopes back quite a bit, maybe more than in other cars and this could be the problem. It's a bog standard 2005 hatchback. Could the angle of my car's Isofix anchors also have something to do with it? I guess they're not adjustable though.

yes if you have a seat that slopes down towards the back it can make a big difference. we had the same issue with our besafe unfortunately.

thankfully the children didn't really seem to mind!

oh no! flipping £200+ down the drain then. so annoyed! how can Britax say it suits my car if this is the case? and Mothercare fitted it and said it was fine too....

well, i suppose because it fits and is safe. and head going forward isn't a safety issue? you could try one of those neck pillow thingies?

If you give it a few weeks your DS will get used to resting his head to the side when he sleeps.

My DD2 is 20 months (but the size of an average 13 month old, weighing 19lbs) and in the Britax Multi Tech ERF. This seat has no recline at all, you just fix it in the car, it's a nice 'sitting awake' position but my DD2s head has never fallen forward when she's asleep - it has a nice big headrest with wings so she just puts her head to the side.

My older two are on Britax high backed boosters and again they can sleep fine in them upright but resting their head to the side.

I wouldn't panic about having wasted your money just yet, give your DS time to get used to the seat.

alicemum - interesting. yes the sides are deep on the max fix too but he's not worked out to test his head to the side yet. poor babe was crying yday when he was trying to sleep in the seat but couldn't get comfy. I was driving and couldn't stop easily to sort him out.
can someone pls recommend a good mirror so I can keep an eye on him and pull over to adjust his position if I see his head is dropping forward?
