New car seat legislation? i-Size?

I've seen this new i-Size legislation advertised in a few places saying it's rearward facing for longer and offers more protection. Has anyone got any experience with any of these car seats, is it worth investing in? Or shall i just stick with my current car seat?

Britax gives some info. It seems it applies to IsoFix seats only, so not sure where it leaves things, given that my car has IsoFix but when it came to fitting a carseat (it was a rear facing one with a specific fixing kit designed for my car make & model), it did not fit... so IsoFix fixings are not fully universal.

i-Size is age and size of child rather than weight so given that children are not weighed constantly, that is probably going to be better as an indication for when seat type can be changed.

Rearward facing until 15 months at least - sounds good in principle but what if the child outgrows the car seat? That I feel is certainly a possibility for the rearward facing baby carrier seats. Maybe it will mean that manufacturers will come up with more seats that can be mounted as either rear facing or front facing.

Looks like existing car seats can be used until 2018 possibly longer. So for many parents I don't see there being any change, though if buying a new car in 2014 or later, then the car may have details on which i-Size car seats fit in which positions. I just hope the car manufacturers sort out the IsoFix so that all seats do fit.
