Dh and I have just bought our first pushchair and car seat for baby #1. Just wondering if anyone has any first had experience of the BeSafe Izi Go car seat? I've heard its the Rolls Royce of child seat, and that the safety testing is to a really high spec as it's done to Scandinavian standards Smile

Congratulations. Smile.

Don't have experience of the Go, but we have the iZi Combi X3 ISOfix - bought it at the time (about three years ago) as one of the best on the market - haven't had any issues with it, easy to move between cars and, most importantly, small child loves it - still have it RF as we do a fair amount of motorway/dual carriageway driving.

The Britax RF/FF gets good write-ups too.

That's really good to hear moonlight! Smile If you don't mind me asking, how much is that car seat? I'll more than likely look at upgrading to that as and when baby #1 has outgrown this one (might be a while I know!) just after some sort of idea Smile

We paid somewhere around £400 - £450 for it, but I've done a quick search and found it on the JL site for £349. Hopefully they will have come down a bit more by the time you're looking to buy!

As I said though, while they are considerably safer in head-on and side-on collisions, the difference with an FF seat for rear-end collisions is much less. So, if you only do urban pottering you may not 'need' one as such. The high viewing position does seem to be appreciated by the small child though - likes to comment on everything going by and has now learnt 'reverse' directions such as "silly mama, no not that car, car on my right"...[sigh]

zimmyzammyzoom · 15/11/2013 21:27

Are they really not much safer in rear end collisions? Surely the force is still same direction so the internal decapitation risk still much reduced plus I'm sure I read they're better as the child is nearer the middle of the car than the boot in an ERF seat.

zimmyzammyzoom · 15/11/2013 21:28

Sorry I'm talking ERF in general but we have a besafe Izi combi isofix too as well as a Britax Multitech

Will see if I can dig up the stats, but I seem to recall the difference drops from the, often quoted, five times safer, down to 0 point something or other. Again, this is research from when we were buying three-ish years ago, so new data has no doubt come out since.

We do do a lot of motorway driving and long journeys, so I would much rather know that we've spent a bit more, and that baby is going to be slightly safer Smile cor! They are pricey for the older kids! Totally worth it though.

Not had much luck with finding the stats - I do remember it was very, very academic, and very, very, very long - also think it was US...Anything else I've trawled through though isn't giving the specific safety difference for rear-end, which is interesting.
