short seat belts - recommendations for car seat for newborn

DH's car (Hyundai Accent, pre-2000) has short seat belts and we can just get the current belt round our car seat (Recaro Young Profi). Would ideally like a fixed seat for this car but anything that would comfortably fit would do, struggling to find out if the car compatible with Isofix etc.
Any suggestions (or anyone know of a website where we could find out what fits this car?)

Have you checked the car to see if it is fitted with isofix? Have a look down the sides of the backseat to see if it has the links. Also have you tried the manufacturers website?

Hi,
I think you're going to have trouble finding a fixed infant seat. Your car probably doesn't have ISOFIX due to its age, so something like this will be no good www.preciouslittleone.com/product-information/36/24673/concord-ultimax-isofix-car-seat-(black)/. Then there are birth to 4 years seats that use the seatbelt, like this one, www.britax.co.uk/car-seats/car-seats/first-class-plus, but you need long seatbelts because of the way the lap belt goes under the seat and the diagonal part has to go all the way round the back of the seat.
You could look at an extended rearfacing seat that will cover birth to 4 years (or beyond) and stay rearfacing the whole time. This one is suitable from birth www.securatot.co.uk/klippan-kiss-2?category_id=61 and can be installed with the seatbelt. ERF seats don't require long seatbelts because both the lap and diagonal parts go through the seat (or base) under the child's legs - the diagonal part doesn't have to go round the back of the seat.
Or you could just get a regular infant carrier with a seatbelted base. Just because it's an infant carrier you don't have to take it out of the car each time. It's easy to get the baby in and out when the seatbelt is through the base rather than over the baby's legs and round the back of the seat.

Thanks Alicemum the Klippan looks ideal (apart from the fact it costs about as much as the car is worth!)
