One year old 7.7kg what car seat? / Rear Facing

My one year old is little. She is 7.7kg but she is fairly long. Are there any next stage car seats that start at less than 9kg? Ideally I want to keep her in a rear facing one.

Besafe Izi Isofix Combi is suitable and very safe. It is available from John Lewis.

We have this one: www.mothercare.com/Britax-First-Class-Plus-Combination-Car-Seat---Lisa/450560,default,pd.html and can highly recommend it. It stays rear facing for quite a long time if you want it like that.

You need a group 0+1 seat. There are two kinds - the ERF suitable from birth kind and the "convertible" kind which are cheaper and you'll find them in normal shops.

The first kind will keep your DD rear facing from now until 18 or 25kg, but the second kind will only be rear facing until 13kg (for the main branded ones, Britax and Maxi Cosi) or some are only RF until 10kg (the very cheap first start/nania/etc ones) and then FF after that.

It might be that 13kg is long enough for your DD if she is small for her age, if you look in her red book to see roughly what line she is on and see when that line gets to 13kg in age that should give you a rough idea. If not though make sure you go for an ERF seat which is suitable from birth :)

Have a look at the incarsafetycentre or securatot

The britax hi way and fair g bimbo are both suitable from birth.

Has she outgrown her infant carrier? Shes fine in it as long as her head is not over the top.

thanks everyone. I will take a look at all the suggestions.

lagoonhaze - her head isn't above the seat, it's just that her legs look a bit too long for it.

hollyw a lot of parents worry about leg length and ERF seats. There are some answers here.
