Booster for a 4year old

The boy I nanny for is 4 this weekend, not tall probs just under average height, quite skinny so doesn't weigh much. He is in a booster seat without a back - should I ask mum to supply a high back booster for him? Or leave him as he is?

if he is under 15kgs he should be in a harnessed seat. He can use a booster/high backed booster from 15kgs but he should really be in a high backed booster regardless as it is much safer for him and offers side impact protection. My nearly 9 year old still uses a hbb as does ds who is 5.

Not sure on weight to be honest but will suggest to mum a hbb, I'd feel safer knowing he is safer

If he is under 15kg and you are driving him about in a unsuitable seat, it's your license/insurance under threat and your fine if you get caught/in an accident unfortunately.

I'd weigh him myself, personally speaking, and get an appropriate seat for his size/weight/age (harnessed/HBB convertible for under 15-18kg and high back booster if he's 15kg+ [though pref 18kg+]). His parents can foot the bill or if you get a convertible seat you may find it useful for other children you nanny for.
