High backed booster advice please!

My DS is 8, 130cm tall and weighs 28kg. He uses a Concord Lift Evo Protect highbacked booster in the car.
None if his friends use highbacked boosters anymore and my adult friends have actually laughed about him still using this seat. We have ignored this because safety comes first, plus he finds a basic booster too uncomfortable on the odd occasion he's used one. My question is when is it no longer safe for him to be in the highbacked booster? Is it ok up until he reaches 135cm or is it assumed that by now he should just be on a basic booster? Thanks

My two still sit on them. Booster seats are getting harder to get. My dc will be sitting on hhb until they are 150cm which is the height adult belts are designed for. my dc are 10 and 6

Mine will be in high back boosters until 150cm at least (DD1 has a Sunshine Kids Monterey which takes up to 160cm). Booster cushions are being with drawn from sale soon (when ECE R44-05 becomes law - allegedly later this year) as they just aren't safe enough.

I'm not even going to take mine out of their booster if they exceed 36kg (which I highly doubt as DD1 is 121cm & 20.5kg) as they are exactly the same seat as what's available in the US and they are rated to 120lbs/54kg over there.

Thanks everyone. I didn't know about the law change. I have no plans for my DS to use a basic booster but was worried he would become too tall or heavy for a hbb. I've checked and he can stay in current hbb until 36kg which is a way off. Height wise it's huge, almost touches interior of the roof in the car so no worries there! Last year we had a car accident but DS suffered very minor injuries-police said it was because he was in a decent safe hbb. We chucked the old one and bought the same again-it had more than proved itself!
