Got new car today and discovered can't use Maxi Cosi.In fact although it has Isofix points everywhere we can't seem to use them due to underfloor storage spaces!
Was really wanting to use Rf seat for long as possible (baby is only 2months at mo) but am just confused now and my brain has shut down.
Any suggestions would be very useful Smile

Don't know if it is similar, but I have an 'ordinary' Picasso and used a Britax First Class SI plus. Was brilliant and does rear or forward facing (according to age limits).
Have a look HERE

Sorry bit confused. Are you looking for a infant carrier, one with base or a stay in car job?

Infant carriers should fit unless there are buckle crunch /short belts.

Bases - storage boxes will mean they aren't an option.

Stay in car seat- britax first class - possible but often needs a lot of seat belt in rearfacing mode.

If you are going to do extended rear facing that the britax two way elite will be the one you need as no foot prop.

If you have underfloor storage boxes you can get some heavyduty foam packs to put in them so they become solid. I'm not sure where but another poster mentioned it a while back.
How many seats does a grand picasso have, we need another 7 seater soon and dd3 is still in a rf seat with isofix and will be for another 2 years

I had a c4 grand picasso you have to look at each individual car seat instructions or phone the manufactures of the seat as they have the latest test on the seats. The britax baby carrier does fit on the base it says so in the instruction. Also check you manual that also says which carseats fit on issofix. My understanding was the legs on seat are of until 13kg and then it depends on the lids of the boxes.
My current car renult grande scenic can take the britax base in all three seat on middle row but their stage 1 seat with a leg (I know you are looking at erf) only goes in the middle.
I would use your current seat either without the base of with the base in the middle seat if you can get a good fit until you can call maxi cosy

Agree with Lagoon above.
An ordinary infant carrier should fit in the rear seat with no problem, secured with the belt (We have a Picasso and had a graco mirage from 2004, no probs apart from standing outside the Rosie with newborn DD2 trying to remember how to fit the thing)
Britax first class would be a good investment but it does mean having to remove sleeping child from car rather than taking whole seat and child in.

I have a c4 Grand Picasso and twins. I used Maxi Cosi without bases until twins were 12 months old. Now they rear face in two Two Way Elite's, one behind driver, one behind passenger (and high back booster for other child in between). The In Car Safety people told me my choice was quite limited for extended rear facing, due to the pants underfloor storage. The Two Way Elite's are great though, very comfy and easy to fit.

You can't fill storage boxes with homemade polystyrene, it has to be made and tested by the manufacturer of the car you can't just buy it from b and q! I have spoken to lots of manufacturers and the decision is unanimous. Got a storage box, no leg! Unless it misses of course!!

lagoonhaze · 05/04/2012 20:55

Completely agree about no filling storage boxes with anything other than a manufacteurs foam spacers that are especially designed for the car.
