Anyone know any baby car seats which fit a 3 door yaris?

Having a nightmare trying to find a carseat that fits. Maxi cosi website insists cabriofix fits but took it to Halfords today and not at all a good choice according to the fitter.

Did they say why?

Would you need to use a base in the back of the car?

What year is your car?

It is a 2002 yaris. wouldnt be using a base. The maxi cosi didnt fit because of the positioning of the buckles in the Yaris. It didn't go in secure enough.

hmmm...you will have long buckles, but seriously... a normal infant carrier should fit.
Where about do you live? Anywhere near Chester? (I work in a Halfords store so could help)

Try the Graco Logico S and the Britax too, the Britax is safer but the Graco is very good. tbh the Maxi Cosi isn't that great and babies will have to be rear facing to 15 months by law next year, which you'll struggle to do with a maxi cosi. The Cybex Aton might be worth a look too. You will get some movement side to side and if (when the seat is fitted) you push down where the babies head will be, the only movement should be from the child seat pushing down onto the car seat - not the seat kicking up where the legs will be.

We've a 5 door & have the britax with a base.

Hi I am in Scotland near Glasgow so nowhere near Chester sadly. Is it the Britax Babysafe SHR? The reviews on Mumsnet are not very good for the babysafe model saying babies heads fall forward in them.

I have had that problem but only as she has got older & when she's asleep. If I put her head back it stays there.

The seat is very upright, and on the base as it is designed to last to the full 13kg, so is taller. An 18month old child isn't going to like lying back as much as a 3 month old! (which is how long the babysafe SHR should last)

As for the bad reviews... the clip/button used to release the handle was bit of a design faux pas tbh, there was one bit of plastic in the release that was a little too weak and when forced, which it was too easy to do, it broke. This didn't impair the safety of the seat but obviously you want a handle button that's not going to break! It didn't help that retailers were absolutely useless at replacing the seat. I do know that the problem has been fully rectified however. It is the very safest infant seat on the market.

To get around the 'uprightness' of it, if you buy a base to go with it you can get a free wedge from Britax which will tilt it back more. Or you can use a small rolled up towel. You don't want it too reclined however, as in a crash the spine will be pushed towards the head, rather than absorbed by the seat back.
