Hi

Does anyone know for sure whether a Maxi Cosi Axiss will fit in a 56 plate vauxhall zafira? I'm getting conflicting responses from Halfords/Maxi cosi/general google search etc.

Many thanks!

hi, not sure about this seat but my friend has a zafira and the seatbelt stalks are very long so you might get buckle crunch. i have had my britax two way elite in and it fitted fine. have you thought about a rf group 1 seat? you can find out more on www.rearfacing.co.uk

:)

No it won't fit, you'll get buckle crunch. Seats that WILL fit:
Britax Duo Plus
Maxi Cosi Tobi
Britax First Class
Impact Shield Seats

However, I wouldn't bother with any of them and would without doubt opt for extended rear facing! As nicm says the Britax Two Way Elite fits :) Children are 5x safer when rearfacing. See nicm's link for more info before you commit to a front facing seat! If, after you've read the info and still want front facing then the Duo Plus is the safest as it has PivotLink ISOfix :)

Hope this helps

Hello

Thanks for the info. Hadn't really considered getting another rear facing seat but will definitely look into it. I already have an isofix family fix base for the current seat so I think I could also get a maxi cosi pearl that would fit on that base (which I know is a forward facing one) but was trying to think of ways to avoid having to purchase another base in the future when DS/DD2 arrives. I also have a really bad back so was attracted to the idea of a seat that swivelled round but if it doesn't fit it doesn't fit - end of !

Thanks again.

:( about your back. i find the rf seats are actually easier to lift in and out of because the door opens wide and you have all the space to stand but in the ff seats you are standing in the small bit of the door opening iykwim. if you got the twe then you would still have the base for dc2!

:)

Thanks - I've looked into a bit further now and I think we're set on the Britax Two Way Elite. Any advice on best place to get it? I don't live too far from Milton Keynes so the Car Safety Centre is probably the best bet.

ummm...sloathy.. do you have floor storage compartments in your zafira? If so you can't use a base with an impact leg! you can get away with it if you can open the compartment and the leg reaches down to the floor :)

The Axiss is really heavy too! So swivel function is good...but you'd be buggered if you ever had to take it out!! But as you said, it doesn't fit so no need to worry!

The Milton Keynes safety centre is the best bet, they really know their stuff :)
Good Luck!

No floor storage compartments ( at least I don't think we do!). Can you tell that I know bugger all about cars?

Ok... on the floor in front of the rear passenger seats, is there lids you can lift up to reveal a storage compartment? most people carriers have them. If you do have them you can't use a base with an impact leg. The only way you could do it is if you opened the compartment lid and the impact leg reached down into it to the floor!

and I didn't know anything about cars OR child seats until I got trained on them! Xmas Grin
