HELP!: WHAT SHADE SHOULD I GET FOR A URBAN DETOUR INFANT CAR SEAT?

All the ones I have found in my research (Kiddopotamus, Shade a babe, Protect a Bub) seem to be for the actual pushchair / stroller / buggy, but not for the infant car seat that you put on top of it!

We are going to Spain for 5 weeks in August and it will be sooo sunny my poor newborn will burn if I don't protect her properly.

Thanks thanks thanks, Mumsnetters...

Haha, yes, indeed, only I used to love using the car seat, which clips onto the pushchair, for a quick wander round the shops with my first daughter. Of course, that way, she didn't wake up in the transfer Wink.

At the time I used to use the parasol that came with he travel system, but I always found it quite inadequate as the 'stem' was too short and never quite covered where I needed it too.

So three years later I was hoping for some new elastic super duper clever solution...

Anyone?

We had this to put on over our car seat when it was clipped onto our travel system and it was fantastic (if you follow the link click onto 'click for other views' and it shows you it on a car seat).

I had spent a fortune on a parasol for my buggy and like you, it was a total faff. This net was less than a fiver and worked brilliantly. The mesh is UPF 50 so is very good protection from the sun. Can't recommend it enough.

Have you looked at the 'sunshine kids shade maker canopy'? It looks like a large hood and comes out quite far. If you pull the hood of your carseat up (if you have one) then this should create enough coverage. It may be a good idea to roll up the back of the hood of your pushchair to allow a bit of airflow to stop it getting to hot for your baby.

Thank you, myboots. Looks like it could well work on a car seat.

You see, the hood in my car seat is pretty useless as it is very floppy and keeps folding back, but this may actually help it stay out, so probably worth a try.

Also, good point about the airflow!

Tx again.
