Hi, we have been looking at car seats for dc2 who is due in May and cant decide between these two seats. Have looked on the internet and can't seem to make my mind up, anyone got any advice or experience of these seats? asked the man in mothercare but he didnt seem to have a clue.
Thanks.

We got the cabriofix because it was compatible with our buggy (loola up). No experience of pebble, but thought the cabriofix was excellent. Especially if you get the base, it's so easy to get in and out the car, loved it.

Thanks, we are using the pram we had for DD which had the car seat that fitted on to it and we never used it so not really looking for anything that fits onto the pram. Had a look at one yesterday that we were told was the pebble but looking at the pitures and price it looks more like the cabriofix. Will have to go into mothercare again and compare them again.

We have the pebble but DC not actually born yet. It feels lighter than the cabrio I think.

Pebble has a round thingy which supports their head from the back (and comes in nicer colours).

I am also trying to work out if the Pebble is worth the extra money! We are going on a long car journey when the baby will be about 3 months, which will mean two days each way in the car. I've been reading about the need for two-hourly breaks from the car seat at that age - would the Pebble's head support be helpful too? Or is this just a way of getting people to spend more money on Maxi Cosi seats?

We have the cabriofix, because we are having twins and will need to fit three seats across the back seat (DS is 3) the pebble is slightly wider.
I did like the look of the pebble as it appeared to lie slightly flatter, not sure if it did or if it just appeared to.
But bear in mind the pebble is wider than the cabriofix, in case this is relevant Smile

Thanks for the advice. We looked at both in Mothercare. The Pebble seems to recline more than the Cabriofix-isn't this a good thing? We're making a long journey when the baby will be about three months and I'm nervous of having the baby in that higher up position. (We will make stops every two hours of course.)

What other bases does the Cabriofix go on? Presumably there are generic bases then? Or do the Easyfix bases fit other brands? Sorry, am hopelessly confused by all this.

Thanks. So the Cabriofix doesn't need a base then? I mean, I know there is one, but it's not essential? And we could then buy a different RF toddler seat that also didn't need a base?

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 02/04/2011 20:02

Pebble doesn't need a base either - it's just that the base you go with it you can get the Pearl (which does need the base).

We have the cabrio which we use with base in dh's car and I just strap it in mine. It's a doodle, you don't really needs base, it's just a way of getting new parents to shell out. Even their own literature says it's just as safe with a seatbelt.

Can't advise about cabrio vs pebble but I've loved the cabrio, it's heavy but I like the travel system I use it with. Everyone I know has the same one! It fits so many pram bases. Ds is 7mo & has nearly grown out of it so I'd suggest not going OTT and getting the cheapest MC carseat, or britax etc other good brand. They are pretty much of a muchness.

Barbeasty · 03/04/2011 13:48

The cabrio does fit the family fix base.

StiffyByng · 03/04/2011 19:31

Thanks, all. I don't know what my problem is - I'm normally pretty quick on the update but seem to have a strange blind spot with this stuff!

We need to get a Maxi-Cosi as we're getting a Bugaboo and they're the only compatible brand. Otherwise I'd get a Britax, as they look great.

SecretNutellaFix · 03/04/2011 19:43

I would personally choose the pebble, for the very simple reason that it is impossible to fit the seatbelt incorrectly if you aren't using a base.

It does lie flatter and the head support has been designed to grow with the baby, and the rubber around the outside does give better grip to the seatbelt if you aren't using a base.

If you use the familyfix base, then when you DC is about 6-7 months and their feet are kicking the back seat of the car (which lots of people think indicates that the baby is outgrowing it:they aren't), then the base tilts slightly to give the baby a bit of extra leg room. plus you can then move onto the Pearl for the next stage so still isofix.

We decided to go for the cabriofix. Had a good look at both in John Lewis' and I just felt that this was the better seat for us. I did not like the separate head and back support on the pebble and did not think it was worth £50 extra.
