Hi. I have the Britax two way elite for my 20 month old little boy.
The grandparents also have the TWE so he has never had to go forward facing.
The problem i have is that two sets of Aunts/Uncles want to have little one and take him out for the day. They have had him before but never needed to use a car. They both have 3 door cars and i dont feel confident enough to install the TWE in there car rearfacing with the tethering straps and getting the angle right of the seat, the passenger seat in the correct positon etc etc..... as ive never had to take it out before. Ive looked at the manual and im considering installing it forward facing as it looks easier for me to do. Id rather it was installed correcly forward facing then incorrectly rearfacing. It will onyl be the odd occasion when the aunts/uncles want to take him out.
has anyone ever used the TWE ffing?

im quite anxious about it now. what would you do? thanks

we have a graco infant carrier which goes up to 13kg. LO weighs 11kg but he has just had a growth spurt and now the straps barely do up so ive stopped using it. Real shame as it was so handy to use for occasions like this.

thank you for you reply, it does make me feel better and i will check about the car swap thing too

Junemummy,
You should make an appointment with the In Car Safety Centre, and have them teach you how to install the seat RF on your own. If not, then you´ll have to face this problem over and over again. You have to re-install it RF when it goes back into your car anyway.

even if you swap the car, you´ll have to do
it sooner or later.

thanks lena i will do that. LO's aunty is having him this weekend though so no time for me to learn how to install it in her car but i agree it is a must for the future. I know how to put it back in mine as the tethers and passenger seat are kept in place but have never had to remover the seat with tethers and then replace the whole thing back into my car so i agree that i do need to learn how to do it.
Maybe i could ask aunts and uncles to buy some straps so its one less thing to worry about. id just have to make sure the passenger seat was in the correct position each time.

I use the TWE forward facing for DD1 who is 4.11y/o (I would still prefer to use it rfing though). It's ever so easy to install forward facing and is ROCK SOLID if the belt is a retracting kind (if you pull all the way out, and then install the seat, it 'bites' and won't go out any further) pretty sturdy if it doesn't.

I understand how you feel about forward facing - I personally don't like it but sometimes needs must. DD2 had to go forward facing at 22 months/12kg in the GPs car when DD3 was born as their seat belts didn't retract so her seat wobbled all over the place rfing (Britax First Class) but has built in locking clips so was solid ffing. I hated that beyond belief and was really worried about (more than D3 being born Blush).

LO went forward facing at the weekend for the first time at 20 months old.!!! I was so nervous about it and worried the whole time he was gone. The seat was so easy to install though and was rock solid. LO loved it. My sister said he was laughing away and looking all around him. I then put him back rearfacing and he had a right tantrum. It took both me and my husband to get him into the seat.

Im now considering buying the cybex pallas for the odd occasion like this. I still want to keep him rearfacing but would feel more comfortable knowing that he was in the safest forward facing seat there is when his Aunts/uncles have him. (providing the car seat fits both of their cars)

Although im not sure im going to have much luck persuading my Husband to buy another expensive car seat when it will be hardly used.
