Britax First Class Plus in Rearfacing Mode

I have just purchased a Britax First Class Plus, and am using it in rearfacing mode, as DD is only 6kg. I like it in every way apart from one issue - it is very difficult to pull the straps tight, as the back seat is pressed up against the foot of the seat, so you can't pull the strap outwards, only upwards IYSWIM?

Has anyone else come across this problem with this or anyother rearfacing seat, and what can be done about it.

TIA

I find it a bit awkward on ours (can't remember the brand, sorry) but just sort of roll the strap around my hand and pull up... not easy to describe, really!

DD is 2 and just weighs 20lbs, but in this weather we have to adjust the straps quite often because she's usually wearing a big coat so they need to be longer when she puts her arms in, IYSWIM.

Just wanted to update here from this thread.

I ended up taking the car to the garage, and the bracket at the top of the seat which the belt goes through had to be drilled off, in order to remove the car seat. A new seat belt reel would have been more expensive than a new car seat, and I can still use this one as long as it is on the other side of the car.

Just wanted to raise awareness that if you don't take the belt out of this bracket first, there is a chance that the seat belt will retract around the seat.

Alternatively, you can make sure that the seat belt is not retracting ie by not pulling it all the way out so it 'bites', but I have read on another thread, or maybe even a review of this car seat, that the fit of this car seat is too sloppy if you don't do this.

Anyway, if you have never come across this problem, then great, but this just may come in useful some day..........

What you have to do every time you put the seat into your car, is to pull the seatbelt all the way out and hold on to it so it does not lock. It may take two people to install the seat then.

once the seatbelt has been routed correctly, yu tighten it and let the rest retract back into the housing.

I have had two cars with these seatbelts. They can kick up a bit of hassle

You can also put a clip on the seatbelt right in front of the retractor (housing) that you plled it out of. This way, you can have both your hands free to install the seat.
