Britax Babysafe Sleeper - what next? Help?

Ok, I've got a while before I need to buy the next car seat, but I'm really confused.

So, the weight limit is 10kg. Which is great because the group 1 lower limit is 9kg. However, the rate she's gaining weight, she'll be at least a year old by the time she gets there. I really don't think she's going to be happy lying down for that long, so I need a contingency.

Do I:

a) get an infant carrier for the next 6-9 months then get a group 1 after that

b) get a rear facing to 18kg seat

I know my heart is shouting option b, but I really like the versatility of option a in the short term. Also, a little bit of my brain keeps thinking that seeing as we have already taken a 'non-normal' route with the lie flat seat, we may as well carry on with an extended rear facing seat. But then do we come across as the 'normal' route not being good enough for us when everyone else is fine. I don't want to be PFB.

If anyone has had a sleeper, what did you do?

TIA, and sorry it's been long. Thanks for sticking with me Smile

car seat group are 0 up to to kg
0+ up to 13kg. 1 9kg to 18kg.

Having never sat up in the car your child will not know any difference. There are seats that go from birth to 18kg but most of them turn round at 13kg. even in one of those seat (like the britax first class it can be possible to keep a child rearward until almost two depending on weigh and height. (My friends child was almost 2 and able to climb in himself) he had been forward a few times but never minded climbing in it in mine or his mums car.

Thanks Castle. I did look at the First Class, but I wondered how awkward it is to navigate the seatbelt around the top of the seat. Did it not get in the way for you/your friend? I'll be glad if not, as this would be a good value option over the lifetime of the seat.

The First CLass needs a retracting seat belt (pull all the way out then let retract the seat belt locks and can't be pulled any further) to make a good rfing install. Without the seat belt retracting and locking the FC tends to slip around. It does make a good back up/emergency/grandparents seat but I wouldn't go for one if you don't have locking/retracting seat belts.

Plus you do have to 'post' the child through the diagonal seat belt part unless you go through the other side of the car.

We have a retracting seatbelt, but that posting the baby through did have me thinking when I saw the seat demonstrated in the shop.

I think I'd feel better with Isofix too, as I know it will be installed correctly, and I wouldn't have to recheck the fit every single time we got in the car.

Am going to look at the extended RF seats (like a Besafe Izi Combi) as well, as long as they fit in the back of my Grande Punto.

Thanks!

I had the seat in the middle and he just climbed in. I was amazed as My friend had put him in and I had driven to a toddler group and thought I would have to get someone to help as I have arthritis and thought it would be tricky but he climbed in I knelt on the seat next to him and buckled it and strapped him in and pulled it light. I now think it easier to get a big child in a rearward seat than a forward because of the way car doors open seams less twisting.

Rearfacing all the way.My dd will be six next month and she is still in her rearfacing Britax two-way.She is light for her age,but not short and I am so happy that she is still rearfacing,it is so much safer.
