I would never put a child in anything that is backless. It has NO sideimpact protection

Aitch · 17/09/2010 19:59

surely the relevant question is 'has anyone's child been in a car accident with one of these and was your child injured?' Wink

I haven't used it but it looks to me like it's designed for occasional use, not everyday use, and possibly wouldn't last.

I have a one of theas in my car between two kidfix car seat it is very narrow and I guess the child sat in the middle gains side impact from the seat either side. I also have one of theas which are really good but don't work in my car as there are bits out of the sides of the seats (grand c4). I did look at that one but as it was hardly ever in stock and I wondered if it might be a bit odd to sit on and for me I wanted my children to be able to do it on their own as it is the one I put in friends cars. The seat belt adjuster works well in my husbands clio.

Wether or not some-one´s child has been injured in this seat or not is irrelevant. It´s backless so that way not so safe, period.

I have one of these for when I need an extra car seat for playdates and stuff and they are great really easy to use and would probably be ideal to go in the middle of your two bigger car seats. I use mine for my 5 year old and she loves it as it is comfier than her hard seat but I do still use her highbacked booster seat unless we need it as an extra. Obviously if you could fit a high backed booster in then that's great but this is just as good if not better than an ordinary hard booster with no back and def better than nothing at all - and if you have an airbag in the front seat you shouldn't sit any child's car seat in the front (they all have warnings on about it). Not all of us have big enough cars to fit three big seats in the back!

Thankyou all for your comments,
zapostrophe I really love the boostapak
Its only to use for the school run between the two big ones as we can fit all three big ones in DH's 4x4 for family outings.
Now I must go buy a boostapak....
...or both?!?

justshootmenow I don't want to be deliberately provocative, but I have a thing about car safety because of both personal experience and an obsession with statistics.

Please choose whatever is safest - I'm sure you will! - you say the seat's only for the school run, but it is worth bearing in mind most accidents happen within a very short distance of home.
