Simple group 0 car seat wanted - what would you buy?

I'd like to get an infant car seat for baby due any day now.
We don't have isofix points in our car, so it just needs to do up with a three-point seatbelt. I'm not looking for a 0+1 or extended RF, just a simple infant seat. I also don't want it to attach to any pram or travel system.
Any suggestions? Boots are doing Britax Baby Safe plus and Creatisfix both for about £80, or Amazon are doing red Cabriofix for £96. Are these sort of seats, that I've seen about more, much better than the cheaper ones like Hauck that can be had for £50ish? I probably have to buy online, so no way of checking to see if they feel flimsy before buying...
Any help gratefully accepted.

Nobody?
I suppose what I'm wondering is, in the ones that you pay £80-£100 for that come with an optional base and/or Isofix, are you just paying a lot of money for the base-clipping part of the mechanism? Because if so, I'd be wasting mine...

You really need to get it tried in your car as there are lots of reasons why some don't go in some cars. Britax do have a fit checker on their web sit which is good to see whether it is likely to go in your car. I would buy a maxi cosy or britax. The bases make it easier to make sure you have baby strapped in properly and when the baby gets bigger it is then easy to leave it in the car and you are not fighting with your child pushing its legs against the seat as you strap it in. Good luck with you baby

The Mothercare Travel Tot is about £50 and I found it an excellent seat, if you don't need it to be compatible with a pushchair.

Some of the cheaper ones seem flimsier, or have less deep sides (side impact protection) but the Mothercare one is great. Sturdy, easy to use, cheap. Perhaps not as padded as the more expensive seats, but TBH I think they have even improved that now (mine is 2 years old).

Nice and roomy too, DS fitted in his until he was 18 months old, which is good as the rear facing seats are safest, so it's best to use them as long as possible.

It's made by Dorel who also make Maxi-Cosi, so that was reassuring too.

I don't think the £90+ carseats come with a base, I think the base is extra, but you are paying extra for the name and the fact it is compatible with many different pushchairs.

I don't drive and I never found a car it didn't fit in.

HTH :)

Do you only want an infant carrier or would a fixed seat be okay? If so Britax first class is a good bet IF it fits rear facing (mine didnt)

Otherwise I have seen the mothercare one and it looks good too.

Britax first class didn't fit RF (it's the one my parents have, we'd tried it before - a good one for grandparents I think, given the long life span).
Mothercare travel tot was out of stock online and I was feeling too jumpy to wait (live miles from nearest store), so I got a Britax Baby Safe plus for around £80 from Boots over the bank hol weekend (got about £20 worth of advantage card points back too, which made it quite a bargain). It's arrived and looks good.
Thanks again for advice, hope it helps someone else in the same position...
