Britax Baby safe plus problems

Has anyone else had problems with the Britax baby safe car seat? We use ours with the Britax Isofix, the trouble is that whenever we put little'un in the seat he ends up with his head slouched forward and laboured breathing when he falls asleep. I've adjusted the straps, tried the seat with and without the new baby booster cushion and tried a neck support but nothing helps. I have resorted to tieing a head band around his head when we go on long journeys to stop his head going forward. Britax have been no help and blamed the isofix- suggested we use the seat with just the seat belt- what a waste of money buying the isofix then. Our car is a 3 series BMW and we checked it would take the isofix and seat before we bought it. Using a friends maxi cosi at the moment... any suggestions..??

Can you take the base back and get a refund? I would just use the carseat without the base TBH - it's going to cost you money to replace it either way, and you can't return a carseat in case it's been in an accident, so it would be a waste of a perfectly good carseat (unless of course you pass it on to a friend)

I would not use the seat with the base if the baby's breathing is laboured - it's really dangerous. You are doing the right thing by questioning it.

But - forgot to say, as your baby gets older and able to support his head better, the upright position won't be a problem. So using the maxi cosi seat or fixing the Britax one with the seatbelt will probably only be a temporary solution, then you can go back to using it as you intended to.

I have this seat and only recently have been having a similar problem. With the newborn cushion in place dd is fine but once its removed her poor little head lolls forward??? The instructions with the car seat say not to use the cushion once you move the headrest up so not sure what to do for the best as I had moved the headrest up one notch?? She is 16wk and can support her head no problem its when she falls asleep that the problem starts. Tried to ring Britax today but they were closed. If I get a similar response Willybongo I will not be happy as I am not happy to have the seat installed without the isofix! I will keep you posted and if we get no joy I say we join forces and demand a refund of both the base and seat!

We have been having the same problems, it doesn't matter whether it is on the base or just strapped in, our babies head still falls forward when he sleeps.. Its really worrying. Britax have been really unhelpful. Glad I came on here and found others having the same problem, I was beginning to think we were doing something wrong.

Isofix is no safer it just eliminates error so as long as you put it in properly it is fine. In my car that seat goes better without and you can also tip it back a bit so making it a bit flatter. As your babies grow the base will work better.

I had the same problem with my grandsons head falling forward when he fell asleep in the Babysafe Plus SHR with Isofix. After contacting Britax management their technical department arranged for a Territory Sales Manager to visit me at home. He was very knowledgable and helped me to sort out the seat by slightly adjusting the angle of the Isofix base. This person alone has restored my faith in Britax and I would recommend that anybody experiencing this problem should go down this route.
Castleonthehill I disagree, Isofix is definately safer which is why it was important to me to get this resolved.
I was also advised to keep my grandson in a rear facing seat for as long as possible. Even if you feel your baby is ready for a forward facing seat as they are able to sit unaided on car impact they are much safer in the rear facing seats.

Yep, this happened to DD when she was small. I don't have a base as my car is ancient and has no isofix points. I realised I could easily recline the seat a biytmore and that solved the problem. Don't know if you can do this with a base though. The seat has been great in all other respects.
