Lump under one armpit for a few weeks, should I worry?

Noticed a lump under my armpit for a few weeks now. This doesn’t look sinister right? I assuming it’s fatty tissue or something, on one side only. No other symptoms.

Have you had any vaccinations in the last few weeks? If so it often raises your lymph nodes on that side

Loloblue · 24/06/2026 23:05

Get it checked!

Get it checked! Mine was a lump of extra breast tissue. Very common apparently.

Always worth checking. Go to the GP.

My friend’s mum had a lump under armpit. She didn’t go the the doctors for ages. My friend finally made her go and it was a two week cancer referral. Cancer was found and it had spread into her lymph nodes.

Go to your GP @Whatisbest26 .

Ok I might contact my doctor tomorrow to see what they think.

Does anyone have any trouble getting life / critical illness insurance after a check-up? My Mum had breast cancer in her early 50s and my auntie in her 20s. If I complete the form and say I’m having a lump checked, it always seems to go against me even if nothing wrong.

If that’s your medical history with mum and aunt you definitely get it checked. I have a history in my family and I had a lump which wasn’t visible. They were fab and all was fine. If your lymph nodes are up then something is causing it. Fingers crossed for you

Re your question about life and critical illness cover, once you complete a medical questionnaire (either online or by telephone) the underwriters will make a decision based on information provided.

All the time you are waiting for a diagnosis, tests etc, they defer your case until you receive an outcome. So you will need to tell them once you have a diagnosis for the lump and they will review again (usually asking for a GP report).

Family history for certain illnesses can cause premiums to increase but so can being under or overweight.

I hope that you get seen by your GP soon.

Went to the doctor today, he has referred me for an ultrasound. He doesn’t think it’s anything to worry about but said best to get it checked.

Ultrasound booked for 4 July - all very efficient by the NHS!
