Ultra sensitive skin panty liner recommendations after cancer treatment

Hi, this is my first post so please be kind 🙏🏻
As a result of some excisions during cancer treatment, I've developed a kind of mild urge incontinence and having to use Tena sensitive panty liners (unscented). For some reason they are making me have a burning deep itch reaction. Always liners do the same.

It's not thrush or BV, I've been tested for both. I've been recommended to try different brands, weirdly before menopause, I could wear any brand of any kind of pad.

Can anyone recommend something that works, but is for super sensitive skin?

Cotton period pants might help - I find them much more comfortable than any disposable pads.

I would use something reusable, either cloth liners or period pants. So much nicer.

Is it possible you could use a barrier cream/emollient too? My doctor prescribes Hydromol which keeps everything comfortable (I’m very sensitive to toilet paper and panty liners/pads). I think you can buy OTC too but in view of your history it might be best to check first.

Have you checked on the health food shops?
I use a brand called natracare and they are very good. I also use an online toilet paper company called ‘cut the crap’ also recommend.

Toilet roll is ‘who gives a crap’ 💩

Organic cloth panty liners. There are some very reasonably priced ones.

I remember from ante natal classes the midwife told us to remember ‘never use always’ as there was something in them that irritates. And I’m fairly sure the Lichen Sclerosus society says similar.

I have a terrible reaction to anything scented, but find the cheapest own brand pads and liners are usually ok, but always do the sniff test in store, as they hide the scented label with copy euphemisms like ‘fresh’.

Much like the cheapest supermarket own brand salted crisps only have potatoes, oil and salt, the cheap ones usually have less irritating ingredients. (But don’t recommend you use crisps as a liner, as they’d be crunchy and quite ineffective)

TOTM makes disposable liners with no nasties, or you could invest in cotton/bamboo washable resusable liners - have a look on Etsy or Amazon. Applying emollient ointment like Hydromol or Epaderm on the vulva will help protect against irritants and friction.

So sorry to hear about what you’ve been through.

I’m not sure if they’d be the right size (I use them in thongs) but Lil-ets do a teens pad with wings that are eco and made with plant based materials. They are SO soft. I’ve popped the link below; hope it helps.
