Gift for consultant and CNS?

I am coming to the end of a 2 year cancer journey and will soon be referred to the late effects team. I feel i would like to get a gift for my consultant and CNS who have both been very supportive throughout. Is this appropriate? And do you have any ideas as to a suitable present?
thanks

Honestly a letter or card would be really appropriate. When I retired I received some wonderful letters from patients and I can look at them as often as I need to which is lovely.
I also received a couple of vouchers for m&s or John Lewis, a light that comes on in the dark and some smellies.
But the letters mean a lot.

I’m a HCP - cards & chocolate are the most common gift, always very well received! I wanted to do something a bit different so we got DD’s amazing spinal consultant a restaurant voucher & bottle of wine when she was discharged (with great results) after a gruelling 4 years of multiple surgeries & set backs. We received a lovely email as a mark of appreciation/thanks

I’m a consultant . The nicest presents I have had recently have been a cheese board from
a deli and a bouquet of flowers ( the latter delivered on person with a hug) . Lovely cards with heartfelt messages go on my notice board to remind me that my job is worthwhile.

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions. I’ll definitely be doing the card with heartfelt message. I’d love to do a bouquet of flowers, but as i have to travel 3 hours by hospital transport to attend, and visit the phlebotomy dept on route i can’t imagine managing 2 bouquets in any reasonable way 🤣. I’ll have a think about the other ideas you’ve given me. Thank you again.

I always appreciated cards/letters more than anything else as you can put them in your appraisal folder which is really valuable. Remember to keep to something fairly simple and inexpensive as we are not supposed to accept gifts of significant value. I think the GMC guidance is really designed to prevent doctors accepting financial inducements from companies more than from grateful patients but personally I wouldn't accept anything more than a token gift from a patient. A box of chocolates, a mug, some nice handcream or similar is lovely but I think that is enough.(Especially handcream actually as my hands were always wrecked from so much washing!) But I wouldn't be comfortable accepting anything more than that. For instance I would probably have politely declined the restaurant voucher that a PP gave.

I'd keep it simple, to avoid any potential embarrassment on either side. HCPs don't need fancy gifts to know that they are appreciated so don't overthink things. Seeing you recovering well will be their best thanks but a card and a simple gift will be icing on the cake.
