I hope you’ve continued to improve @Pieceofpurplesky🤞

oh @Bangersndmash, I do hope you are doing better this week with less reaction. So many rubbish reactions 🙁

I’m on the mend (hopefully) although Sue Ryder have applied for end of life care which the can only do when no more treatment is available. I don’t believe this and want to fight. I have things to live for! Oncology say I may have more treatment available if I can get to out patients- apparently I have to be strong enough for this. I can do this 💪

wish me luck 🙏 home Monday evening hopefully x

I am wishing you all the luck in the world Ventress 💪💪 you can do it xx
@Bangersndmash and @Pieceofpurplesky oh gosh taxol as it was called in France eugh I was in hospital twice with infections and yes did get some neuropathy in my feet and also hands but less. Apart from that almost as soon as it stopped I felt much better. Did get pains in legs after stopping but that wore off eventually. Hang on in there xx
@Sbmpp and @cantbelieveIamhere and everyone else hope you’re as well as possible.
We continue to be boiled alive in France and can’t do much at all it’s just tooo hot.
Sending best wishes xxx

Bangersndmash · 10/07/2026 22:09

Sorry my post does read a bit confusing, I had pacli a few months ago I’ve finished chemo now! I had a reaction in the very beginning but sorted it.

finished chemo now and had my double mastectomy and recon, just recovering. Fingers and toes crossed for your return home on Monday!!

i am also boiling alive iin England. I never thought I’d dream of winter 🤣

Oh yes thats right I had forgotten you were having the dmx! How did it go? Hopefully you’re nearly finished with treatments ?🤞🤞
Winter is now my favorite season!!

@Ventress good to hear from you I have been thinking of you,I am glad you are able to go home soon as I am sure you will feel more comfortable, yes keep fighting please we need your wisdom here.

@Nonamelass yes the heat is bad isnt it, I cant do anything in this heat - get up early and try to do a few things then the day is done, its indoors with curtains drawn.

@Pieceofpurplesky neuropathy is supposed to ease off, I did cold mits and feet and still got a touch of neuropathy finger tips and my right foot, I think its slow to repair though, so patience is needed.

@Bangersndmash boiling alive indeed, glad to hear you are recovering you have done well to get through all that.

@Sbmpp how are you doing?

Ventress · 11/07/2026 11:38

Thank you @cantbelieveIamhere. I’m not sure about wisdom but the hoist is good fun - like the parachutes at the fair 😃

how are you doing?

@Nonamelass- I’ve been watching the reports for the weather and goodness, the temperatures in France. I hope you are keeping safe 💐

neuropathy is horrible @Pieceofpurplesky. I hope are feeling better soon. In hospital if you have blisters/sores you can get special boots if you have foot blisters. They are really good - I’m wearing them right now 😃

glad you survived the heat @Bangersndmash!

Hope you are hanging tough @Sbmpp♥️💐

Ventress · 11/07/2026 11:56

Sorry, I missed this @Bangersndmash yes, I have my iPod 😀 I’m watching the rugby at the moment, maybe tennis then football? A full sporty day 😎 I do have visitors later this afternoon which will be lovely. My sister and parents are popping by tomorrow too , so a busy weekend, how about you!

i’m not sure I told everyone but DS (18 yo) is going on a city break tomorrow to Istanbul for 5 days by himself - his friends simply couldn’t get organised , I’m so proud of him, he’s at his coaching job atm but then he’s going into town to get a suitcase as DH and mines has broken) it’s very old).

Sbmpp · 11/07/2026 18:29

I’m still here. Chemo was canceled again due to low blood counts. I also still have low iron and all the B vitamins but no calls from any drs about replacement infusions. My primary (pcp) says the oncologist needs to do it. Oncologist doesn’t say anything. SMH. It ticks me off. @Ventress are you still in the hospital (where it’s cool?) or home where it’s cozy (although warm)? To all the posters I am so sorry about the heat. It gets very very warm in this part of Calif but we have central a/c, tile floors etc. There has to be a break, yeah?
@Ventress Where there’s life there’s hope. I think I have another treatment after this that can be tried. I asked then what and she replied “I guess we can try drugs we’ve used before “. I’m sighing.
We found a Rugby game on tv!!!!! Those are rare on this side of the pond. SA vs Scotland. SA is ahead 35-28. They’re all patched together with tape and whatnot. Kinda like us. Hang tough everyone. Never give up.

cantbelieveIamhere · 11/07/2026 18:42

@sbmpp good to hear you are okay, its football for us tonight - important england match! yes its still hot here and no one is doing much as its too hot and chemo skin cant cope with this heat. sorry to hear your chemo got cancelled and you are stuck between oncology and we would say gp? you will have to get your hard hat on and tell them to get on and help you - one or the other!

@ventress good luck to your son, hes brave and fearless like his mum hope he has a lovely trip and that you dont worry while hes away!

Sbmpp · 11/07/2026 20:41

@cantbelieveIamhere We’ll be watching the soccer game too. I like both teams. Norway has that cutie Haaland but my dad was half English 😝🤷🏻‍♀️. @Ventress Your son will be in Istanbul!!!! How exciting for him and I’d have dropped in a dead faint if any of my daughters had done something similar 😵‍💫.

Ventress · 11/07/2026 20:58

Hey that’s really cool @Sbmpp! Imagine finding SA vs Ireland in California! I’m glad there is at least one more treatment, where there is life there is hope right?!

thanks 🤗 I’m very proud of DS and the fact that he’s willing to take himself 4 hours from home (albeit it 5 star comfort!) by himself. I’m still in hospital. If I can do 4 hours in the rest and recline chair they will let me home. Doesn’t sound too difficult to me but I guess we shall see.

thank you @cantbelieveIamhere, yes absolutely correct! sbmpp needs to tell them to get to heck and find her some treatment!

you are lovely, thank you. I hope the footie is good tonight, half of the hospital seem to left to go into town to watch it!

Sbmpp · 30/07/2026 23:48

@Ventress @nonamelass @cantbelieveIamhere are you all ok (relatively speaking)? Is your weather ok yet? Are you all comfortable? I’ve had a few weeks of tests etc. Pretty much the same old things. Labs were good enough to get chemo yesterday. I’m also getting iron. Not sure if it’s helping the weakness or not but whatever. My next Petscan is in October. Saw my Oncologist and briefly about treatment when this spreads but nothing definitive. I just wanted to say “hi” and I miss you.

Hi SB i’m ok ! Just managing my energy as best I can as it runs out pretty quick 😡Glad to hear you’re doing not too bad. At least good enough for chemo, hope it’s not too hard on you. The weather is alot nicer here. France has had absolutely wild forest fires but that seems to have calmed down too. Sending you and everyone hugs and best wishes xxx

cantbelieveIamhere · 31/07/2026 17:53

@sbmpp have been thinking about you too, glad to hear you have been able to have your chemo. I am struggling a bit on a new drug, lots of tests and scans coming up pretty much every week in august, some days i can cope some days not so much I would say more but dont want to here, but i send my best wishes to you always and @Nonamelass who is a warrior and @Ventress who has been on my mind too. God bless us all we need it

Pieceofpurplesky · 31/07/2026 20:14

I have been thinking of you all. I had my meeting with the oncologist yesterday and the tumours have shrunk - which is fabulous as chemo has a less than 35% chance of working with LGSC ovarian cancer. So more chemo to come.
You amazing women on here have been my lifeline since the start of my journey and the loneliness that comes with it. I have followed for a while but only just started posting as it took me a while to get my head around things. Sending you all the love and comfort.

Nonamelass · 31/07/2026 21:36

One thing that has freaked me out a bit recently is I’m so tired I’ve made a few stupid mistakes at work ( part time from home) that I swear I hadn’t forgotten to do or what not .I ‘ve a lovely job and it’s not a problem but I feel like I’ve got alzeihmers at times. I’m traumatized and panicked by that because of my mum having it. Maybe it’s also because work just isn’t very important to me anymore. I really like my boss so I do my best but retirement can’t come fast enough.

Nonamelass · 31/07/2026 21:40

@Pieceofpurplesky @cantbelieveIamhere as our dear American friend @Sbmpp says Hang Tough !! Sending you huge hugs xx
@Ventress thinking of you sending hugs xxx
best wishes to anyone reading xx

cantbelieveIamhere · 01/08/2026 10:25

@Pieceofpurplesky how lovely it is to get some good news - so pleased for you every appointment is terrifying so its fantastic to know progress is being made. Its one day at a time for us all on here and it is a great support to be able to discuss whats going on and get advice or just someone listening and understanding.

Pieceofpurplesky · 28/08/2026 02:19

How is everybody? I had chemo 5 today and obviously can't sleep! It hit me really hard last time so have hunkered down to hibernate for a few days. Went to m and s and got food and snacks, downloaded a new book (just in case my attention span improves) and pre washed all bedding so it feels luxurious.
Sending positive thoughts to everyone

Sbmpp · 28/08/2026 17:57

@Pieceofpurplesky It’s so good to hear from you!!! I’m sorry to hear from you. Food, snacks and books sound great. Insomnia not so much. Fresh bedding is my favorite too. It’s not too much fun having cancer to get those. Have you seen any posts from @Ventress or @Nonamelass ? How many more rounds of chemo? I’ve had a rough month or so due to those nasty side effects and in the past few weeks having CT scans, US’s, X-rays, etc. Cardiac echo isn’t until October. Now I’m also on lasix and another pill for b/p. LOL, I’m just another little old lady! I had a cardiac echo last year so hopefully no heart problems from the chemo. I am frequently worried that I might have the chemo stopped (since it’s palliative) and then that would be that.
Our weather has been blistering hot. Like over 100 degrees f hot. Every single day, no cool down at night and not sure when it will end. Our homes are made for the heat (double pane windows, a/c, tile floors etc) but the electric bills are horrendous. Our electric bill was $600/last month and two more months to go before it starts to cool off. Cancer pts. get a small discount ($5:).
I’ve blabbered on too much. Love all of you here, always in my prayers (I wonder what they think at Church when they see “ mumsnet mums” come in?
Hang tough everyone. I hope you all are doing well.

Pieceofpurplesky · 28/08/2026 19:23

I haven't seen any comments off either. It sounds like you've had a tough time - especially with the heat. It's cooled down here at last, but we have the same problems with bills!
Take care and sending love to everyone

Nonamelass · 28/08/2026 19:56

Hi everyone! I’m doing ok still tired but feeling like I’m turning a corner and getting used to the treatment more. Tentatively making a few plans to go on a short holiday and stuff. @Sbmpp gosh that is so cute and made me smile to think of your church hearing the mumsnet mums come up. Thankyou and bless you. Hang tough everyone sending healing wishes xxx

So sorry you’ve been having a hard time Sb..the heat I can appreciate how hard that is now we’ve experienced weeks of it . It’s miserable. Thank heavens for aircon but still it’s no fun staying in all the time and the electric bills ouch .We’ve just had it fitted in our lounge and it saved us in the 2nd half of the heatwave. Hope things get easier for you asap xx
