Hello
Wondering if anyone knows of any miracle hair products!

I'm on treatment for cancer and my hair has become fluffy, thinning, dry, frizzy. I look like a fluffy dandelion. And its gone curly. Scalp is sore.

Struggling to know what to use on it... wondered if any of you had wise ideas?

I'm having cancer treatment and you are describing my hair ! I have to put what's left of it in a band when I go out because it looks so awful . It's very upsetting . Looking forward to seeing if anyone has any good ideas .

Don’t use anything harsh in your hair it’s coming from within and it’s just the process ( i wear wigs)

Are u doing the cold cap? Mine is also the same, it’s thin but fluffy / fizzy and LOOKS quite thick at the end but looks quite thin at the root, it doesn’t look great.

Can’t say I’ve got any magical cure. I have a leave in conditioner for my cold cap once a week, that’s it. Commenting more for solidarity than anything else 😩

I'm not on cold cap. Is the cold cap uncomfortable?

I have purchased a wide toothed comb to prevent dragging hairs out and hopefully less fluffy!

See, the tooth comb they recommend the combs were way too sparse / wide and didn’t brush my hair at all. I’ve had to continue with the tangle teeze (gently).

Where do you live? If in the UK yes you can have a cold cap. I don’t know what your treatment plan is or how long you’ve been doing it but I’ve been doing it for about 8-9 weeks now. Was unbearable when they put it on, I just needed to acclimatise myself. It grew on me throughout the day and EOD I was fine. It’s definitely helped my hair loss, if you looked at me you would never know. Just slight bit of thinning on top.

although it makes me cold, I bring a hot water bottle and blanket and it’s fine.

Cold capping isn't recommended for certain types of cancer. I have lymphoma and the chemo has to be able to get everywhere, including the scalp. Same for leukaemia. Cold cap not allowed.

I don't have any good hair recommendations; Im just using gentle shampoo on my sparse stubble for now. However, I have seen rosemary essential oil recommended. You might have to dilute it in another oil first.

Well I've just ordered some gentle shampoo and conditioner (created by Philip Kingsley when his wife was going through chemo).

I've got alot of hair left really but the front is disappearing and getting patchy. And my scalp - arghhhh itchy and going scabby.

One of my teens commented today on my weird "fringe thing". I don't have a fringe and they notice nothing - so it must be noticeable.

Oh please let me know what you think of it! I’ve not heard of it so if it’s good might give it a go. Perhaps you could buy a head wrap or scarf if it’s a bit thin on top?

Will do !

I've been wearing my woolly hat... can get away with it in this weather.

I've been massaging Nanogen serum into my partner's scalp (I used something similar when my own hair came out with chemo). It's really working - though obviously the scalp massage would probably be helping on its own.

Hello
Well been a few weeks on the Philip Kimgsley gentle shampoo/conditioner.

My scalp is still itchy but it is not as bad as it was, its not painful. The scabs are beginning to heal and no big ones appearing, only the odd few tiny ones.
My hair is less fluffy. A friend said it looks more like my old hair and the new hair which is fine and fluffy is growing.

I got sent a freebie with the products- a 5 in 1 elasticizer (put on after towel drying) and that seems to help the fluff look less fluffy.

It must be doing ok as Im not endlessly searching for magic solutions.
