Hi all,
So my it turns out that my DD has lumps on each of breasts. We went to see a consultant back in July of this year. The lump on the left which is now 28mm, has increased by 4mm from 24mm. This lump is pain and more so during the time of the month. The consultant said it's nothing to worry about as it seems like a Fibroadenoma after feeling the lump and doing an ultrasound. Consultant did advise that if the lumps grows or becomes more painful then to have it looked at. As mentioned, the lump has grown 4mm since then and pain has increased so we went to see a GP who managed to get us an appointment using to 2 week pathway.

DD had her biopsy just under 3 weeks ago in November. A voicemail was left on our phone which we only listened to today asking us to call back to make an urgent appointment. The word urgent has left me feeling distressed and as a parent I'm thinking the absolutely worst. Chances of breast cancer in a young teen is 1 in a million.....what if my DD is that 1......?

We managed to get an appointment for tomorrow to get the results.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation regardless of the outcome?

Thank you @Nonamelass . Stress was on another level. I'm hoping to have a proper nights sleep tonight.... :-)

Yes I hope you do 😊 Try and put it of your mind now for a while if you can. The doctors are on it and she’ll have had her op in no time .

I have been thinking about your family and I hope your daughter managed to get an appointment for her surgery without too much of a wait @bassmonsteruk. I had the same operation it sounds like, lump out with an excision of a bit extra around the edges.

Once the wound has healed I would buy some Bio oil which is very good to put on the scar to reduce it over time. Mine is so much better now 10 months later so please reassure your daughter it will fade over time as she might be upset with the scar to start with. Tell her it is something to be proud of, a reminder of being a warrior.

Hello all,
I know it's been a while.
Just to update.

We were lucky enough to have an early date for surgery on the 27th of December 2025. It wasn't by the surgeon we wanted as our preferred surgeon had a date that was 6 weeks later.

The surgery went well but the surgeon had zero bedside manner. He wasn't forthcoming how the surgery will be done in terms of explaining how he will perform or do the cut. It was only after we asked him he told us and it didn't really match up with what the consultant had told us. Bear in mind that we have a 16 year old child. His whole demeanour was appalling. I get it, it was just another day in the office for him but some empathy for the child and reassurance would have gone a long way.

The healing process wasn't too bad but we did have to take her after couple of days to a local clinic due to bleeding. She was advised not have a shower for at least a week.

We were also advised that the results would take 2-4 weeks. Nearly 2 months had passed and we didn't hear anything despite calling the hospital numerous times. It's only when my wife had left a rather angry voice message to which we received a letter through the post 3 weeks ago. Thankfully, it was a Fibroadenoma.

There is another lump on the other side but we're told no to worry about it. It's not causing any pain or discomfort. We have a follow up next month.

It's been quite a ride for us. It's the waiting game which takes it out of you.

Words really do matter. When we were in hospital on the 11th of December for the biopsy follow up, there was a really long wait time. It was 5 hours as everyone wanted to see the main consultant. I approached reception and said we are happy to see anyone for the results so the receptionist, asked name and her reply was , "Oh no, you have to see the big man". As you can imagine, we just thought the absolute worst. I'm only writing this so that if anyone else is in a similar situation, please don't be like me and have a panic attack as you can see, some people just need to be better with their words. :-)

I just want to thank everyone for your kind words and support - You know who you are.

So sorry you had such a worrying experience OP. I’m sending you all best wishes for the follow up appointment in a month. I hope your DD is doing okay now.
