Hairloss from Chemo - what to prepare for - headscarves/hats/wigs?

I will be starting chemo in December and have been told that the chemo I am having will cause hairloss.

I'm thinking that I will want/need some pretty headscarves as well as a wig ( or two?), beanies and sleep caps.

Does anyone have any recommendations of what to get and where to buy things?

You can go to a Salon but I would check out “Amanda The Hair and Now” on Facebook she has a good link to https://jbextension.com/collections/new-arrivals

she is fun to watch and I have just picked up a fun one for £30. Like anything you can pay anything wigs.

I hated wigs! I ended up wearing pretty scarves and beanies in the house for warmth. Oh and my daughter got me a fake fringe that I could use with a scarf so it looked like my hair was still there.Wishing you all the best

@Haricotwhy do you think folk won’t need it for so long?

I’ve been on chemo for almost 7yrs now and it’s affected my hair….

Magnetic eyelashes were a real boost for my sister, she didn't wear them all the time but felt much more confident going out wearing them. She also found it helped with managing tears from watering eyes as her lower eyelids got sore without eyelashes to direct them.

This 100%
There are some treatments which sadly cause permanent hajr loss and or thinning.

Eadiechops.com does the best headwear - soft jersey turbans that don't slip or scratch or make you sweat.

I never really got on with my wig, so it was headbands and turbans mainly for me. I cold capped, but had very little hair left in the end, and it was winter so I needed something for warmth!

I had some things from Anna Bandana and Eadiechops. Didn't really get on with anything as they were mostly too big and needed to be fiddled with. Much preferred wearing a wig.

I cold capped, but lost so much hair on EC. Continued with the cap and it started growing back on the next chemo drug. About 6 months after my final chemo my hair was roughly 2 inches long and I had an Intralace system at Lucinda Ellery. My own hair is still growing and is about 4 inches long now.

I got my free wig (using the voucher they give you on the chemo unit) and also bought another (pink) wig for fun, but wore them rarely as I found them hot and itchy.

I'd bought a tied headscarf from Amazon, a panic buy when I'd just started chemo, but again, hardly ever used it as I felt it was just a bit too "cancer patient". The thing I wore nearly all the time was a cashmere beanie from John Lewis. Gorgeously soft, comfortable to wear, and easy to put on.

I never tried the lashes, but did get my eyebrows microbladed before chemo started which I would also recommend.

Any tips and/or recommendations for microblading?

I checked with the breast care nurse first, she didn't know, but later came back to me to say she thought it would be OK before chemo but that I should leave it at least 6 months after finishing chemo before having the top up. (Normally that's done a few weeks later, but I didn't have time to fit it in before starting chemo) I found someone locally with good reviews and she did combination microbladed and ombre brows about a month before I started chemo (to give it time to heal) and her policy was to offer it at half price for chemo patients. I was really happy with the result and glad I'd had it done as otherwise my face would have looked a bit, er Gollum like - you don't realise how much brows (and lashes) give your face a bit of definition.
