Hello all

I’ve had an appointment this morning with my GP as I found a lump in my armpit. She has felt it and referred me to the fast track specialist breast cancer unit. They have just called and I have an appointment in a couple of weeks which is good news. They have told me to allow 3-4 hours.
please could somebody tell me what this appointment will involve? Will I be ok to drive afterwards? I will be bringing my partner with me.
thank you - I’m just very nervous and anxious and would like to know what to expect.

Hi,

First of all, I hope you are ok.

i have been referred via the two week pathway twice and I felt that the consultants were really thorough both times.

Firstly, I met with the consultant who examined my breast and marked out where the lump was, then I went to have an ultrasound.

In both instances, the consultation was satisfied that the lump was benign, so I didn’t have a biopsy.

I’m sure you know, but the 2 week pathway is a standard process for anyone showing specific symptoms, but most people are not found to have cancer.

Take care and I hope it goes well for you.

Hi Op

I've been 3 times now

I had a mammogram of breasts and axilla ( armpits) first-much more comfortable than the old style machines where I went.
Then I saw a doctor who examined me, marked and took a history

Then ultrasound - but I had a breast lump so not sure if they will do it
Mine were all cysts, they drained with a fine needle there and then

Not painful and they were very kind and reassuring.
Good luck Flowers

I'm currently waiting for biopsy results. I went to the breast clinic 3 weeks ago as I had an abcess. I had a mammogram on arrival (1st one ) it was absolutely fine. Then I went in to see the consultant, where they did an ultrasound. The issue I was there about was fine but they picked up a lump I couldn't see or feel. They took a biopsy there and then. They numbed the area 1st, I didn't feel a thing. They were very sure it was a benign lump, but said they were taking the biopsy so we could be certain. I was there about 2 hours in total. I know it's a worry but you are being seen soon. I went on my own, and I was ok to drive afterwards, but there were plenty of other people there who had someone with them. I'm not sure if they were allowed in to the room with them or not.

I have been twice, and both times nothing to worry about. They examined me first then I waited for an ultrasound, second time it was a cyst so that was drained on the spot. Then you consult with the doctor again and then free to go. Hope all goes well x

I was just about to post exactly the same question and came across yours. I hope you’re ok OP.
I saw my GP yesterday also for an armpit lump and shooting and dull/constant pains in my breast. I have the 4 hour appt next week and haven’t any other info so this thread is really helpful.
Can anyone tell me if having breast implants makes a difference to any of the procedures they might do? I’m worried that I can’t feel any lumps that could be there due to the implants.
