I have a quick question regarding the removal of a SCC from the leg under a local anaesthetic. Could anyone provide some insight on how long this procedure usually takes? Any info or personal experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It depends on a few things eg the size, whether it’s MOHS surgery etc.
The procedure itself can be pretty quick if not too big, BUT the waiting around to have it done, the obs, the dressing, the discharge paperwork -all of that is far slower than you think for what could be a 30 min procedure. I’ve known a family member who had a few removed arrive at 8am and not be ready to go home until 3pm, despite the actual removal only taking a short time.

I had a melanoma removed (that they thought at the time was SCC). It was maybe 2cm in size. The actual procedure took maybe 15 minutes. I was in and out in maybe 45 minutes altogether. It’s very straightforward at that stage.
