I am totally spiralling.I had routine blood tests done and received a phone call that I had to come in the next day for urgent blood tests due to myeloma markers being present and urgent referral to haematologist.I am now awaiting results of free light chain tests.Normal red/white blood cells and calcium levels, and no symptoms.I have gone down the Google rabbit hole and am convinced I have the worst type of myeloma due to low levels of paraproteins which are 2g/l which from Googling could mean the worst type of myeloma such as free light chain myleoma/amyloidosis etc.Has anyone unfortunately been in my situation and all was not as bad as Google is making it seem.Thank you in advance for reading.x

I’m sorry to hear about your tests. My dad has just been through this and we were all convinced he had myeloma but it turns out he had something called IgG MGUS which is a benign condition and not cancer. He had awful blood readings and has developed anemia. I diagnosed him with myeloma from the internet as did his GP but after a bone marrow biopsy, an MRI abd further blood tests it wasn’t. The consultant said it is really dangerous to look online as some information is misleading etc. Good luck!

Hi Firefly, firstly don't panic! Easy said then done but honestly stop, take a deep breath and try to let go a little of your worries. My partner has Multiple Myeloma & we've been through a year of treatment.. his is a high risk form of this type of cancer but it's thankfully very treatable but not curable. Definitely don't read info Google..each person with myeloma reacts differently to treatment and so you can't read anything into the treatment and new treatments are coming online all the time. Id definitely recommend sticking to info from Myeloma UK. They have really good leaflets, website etc and a helpline if you need it. Be kind to yourself & take each step at your pace.

My DH had several abnormal blood results but it turned out to be a benign condition called MGUS.

Also, the fact that you don’t actually have any symptoms (you mention the blood tests being routine) is likely to be in your favour. One step at a time!
