Advice please. -
my father had lung cancer 2024 upper lobe removed, couple of round of neoadjuvent and responded well. Given all clear and started remission.

last week had a fall resulting in paralysis of the left leg and left arm - just found out he has brain cancer nets secondary to the primary cancer.

one in the Pons, two in the cerebellum.

after any advice or reasurrance - can there be a treatment (I know it’s not curable.) how long is treatment viable for? Just any information really

I’m afraid this stage of cancer is very advanced. Occasionally radiotherapy can slow things down a little, but even if his medical team feel that that is worth pursuing, you’re still likely looking at a prognosis measured in weeks (perhaps short months at a push). Most likely the approach will be to focus on the control of symptoms as well as possible. I’m very sorry.

He’s just started Dex and is walking normally with arm movement back to normal looking at discharge as they’re happy with results - combination of immuno anc chemo to help treat they’ve not given us a prognosis timescale as of yet. I really hope it’s not weeks/months.

I don’t think that is an appropriate message to deliver on a social media forum.

Speak with your DFs medical team, OP. They have the details. Feel free to ask them whatever you want to know.

It’s also incorrect and can be months or even years. I speak from experience if going through this with a partner. Radiotherapy has really improved. If he’s eligible for immunotherapy there’s a reasonable change of stable disease for a good period

If that's the case then questions like this are inappropriate to ask aren't they? Unfortunately this poster's reply may turn out to be reasonably accurate but obviously hope for better

They have started combined immuno and chemo - he responded well previously to chemo and responding well to the steroids given.

they cannot give prognosis until staging scan so keeping all fingers crossed and positivity.
