Kadcyla

Has anyone been on Kadcyla and would be willing to share their experience?

I was told I’d had a total result from my chemo but following my lumpectomy I was told I’d had a partial result and my oncologist has recommended 14 cycles of Kadcyla. I had grade 3, HER2+ ER+ breast cancer. I’m absolutely devastated to be going back to chemo and can’t imagine another 10 months of blood tests, cannulas and shitty side effects whilst trying to maintain a normal life for my 3 young children.

I'm in a similar situation, would love to hear some feedback too.

I had HER2 breast cancer over 10 years ago now. I was Grade 3 stage 3. I went on a trial which was Kadcyla versus pertuzumab and herceptin.

I was chosen at random to have pertuzumab and herceptin. I had 18 cycles. The trial was to be monitored for 10 years but after 5 years they had all the information they needed which was there was absolutely no difference in efficacy of either of the drugs. Both had a positive outcome of something like 94%.

The reason they did the trial was because kadcyla and pertuzumab were once only given to women with secondary breast cancer and they wanted to see whether these drugs helped to prevent a reoccurrence in early stage breast cancer. As you can see the results were amazing.

As they're targeted therapies I found herceptin and pertuzumab much easier than chemotherapy and I hope it's the same for you with Kadcyla.

I wish you both well in your treatment.

Hi, I have my last Kadcyla treatment in August. I’ve had 8 so far. I’m a single mum, 42 with a 14 and 8 year old so I hear you! It is not anything like the original chemo, I’m currently in Majorca, feeling fine. The cannulas and things are still utterly shit but I’ve been able to live a pretty much normal life. Sending love to you, you’ll be ok 🩷

Thank you both for sharing. Waiting for the results of my auxiliary node clearance, which was last week. If clearance, it'll be radiotherapy followed by 14 rounds of Kadcyla. Plus letrozole and bone strengthening injections. Incredible that medicine is progressing and giving us hope.
