Mole removal after pain?

Hi, I had a suspected melanoma removed 4 days ago. It was quite large 17 mm. I’m finding it a bit more painful than I was expecting. Anyone who had a mole removed did you have pain for long? It’s my upper arm and really stinging still and getting a strange tightening/cramping sensation

I had a big one removed from my stomach last year and it was quite painful for a couple of weeks.

I had dissolvable stitches but after the 2 weeks most of them were still there and they were causing the skin to be even more irritated and sore unfortunately. I was on holiday at the time and ended up removing them myself as they were stinging so much (obviously a terrible idea) but I did feel immediate relief as soon as they were out.

Everything is all fine now but the scar was tender for at least 7/8 months which I found unusual, my mole turned out not to be a melanoma in the end.

I would say not to worry about the stinging, it will definitely improve but may take a couple of weeks or so, keep an eye on the stitches if they are dissolvable, if they are there longer than they are supposed to be and start causing irritation contact your GP/ nurse so they can have a look and remove if necessary.

I’ve had 2 moles removed and I was really surprised at how painful it was after, lots of painful pulling sensations and aching. It’s more invasive than you think. Give it time.

I had a mole removed yesterday on my upper left arm. I'm finding it mostly hurts if I use my arm, so to give it the best chance of recovery I've shoved my arm in a sling to stop me using it. It does occasionally feel like someone pressing on a bad bruise as I guess the arm repairs itself, plus any sharp pain is from the nerves trying to regrow & repair, so I guess they dug deeper for you than me. I hope it eases up for you soon but nerve repair pain is awful and can last a long time. Rest up x

I had a bcc removed from bang in the middle of my spine, about 8 years ago, proper operating theatre set up, dermatologist glued the wound. Difficult to sit and lay in bed, never required analgesia. Lady year has one removed from my chest, just below the clavicle. It was absolutely agony, I couldn't believe it, I expected it to be the same as the last time. I couldn't bear any clothing touch it and it was winter. Both excisions were about 2 inches. Had a weird mole removal at the same time, liquid nitrogen that was very painful. The first one on my back, several years down the line, I could feel a weird pulling sensation under the skin,, but there was no sutures. Hope it turns out ok.
