Hello, firstly sorry if this is the incorrect place to post, I don't want to be insensitive.

A couple of months ago my left armpit became swollen, I noticed it every time I washed, the 3 weeks ago my left breast felt different and felt a lumpier area. Went to DRs she confirmed what I felt and a lump in right breast which is a known lipoma following ultrasound and MRI 11 years ago,I referred under 2 week pathway.

I have a family history of breast and ovarian cancer at young ages. I am 40.

Went to breast clinic and saw senior nurse practitioner, no family history was taken. She said armpit not swollen, no lumps in left and couldn't feel lipoma in right but felt something. I pointed out family history and lipoma was recorded as 4 cm and I can clearly feel it, she agreed for mammogram and ultrasound on right breast only to get update on lipoma but not that day as not urgent.

Went back today had mammogram and then ultrasound and I was made to feel like I was wasting their time.
She asked about previous imaging, and was shocked I'd had an MRI for a lipoma and asked why I would of had that on NHS, explained consultant was obviously worried it was something else and couldn't have mammogram as only 29 at the time. She asked me where it was I showed her she put wand on me in that location and said there is nothing there, chucked a peice of towel at me and said to clean up and said mammogram was fine and she would report findings and id be told next steps which 'will obviously be nothing'

I know alot of you have had terrible news and this appointment could have been so much worse but I came away feel degraded and not heard, I still have a swollen armpit which wasn't checked via ultrasound and I not been advised why it may be swollen, nothing was fully explained and I don't feel reassured.

Should I write to PALS about my experience or should I just be grateful it wasn't bad news?

Sorry it was so long.

Please, ask for a second opinion and an ultrasound. I had no family history when I was diagnosed in my 30s. I’d be going straight to the NMC about that nurse as well.

Definitely write to PALs tell them everything you have said here. Good luck.
