8 year old son suspect lymphoma

Hi there, Feel silly for writing this without having results but it feels like i am getting something off my chest.

So around 10 days ago my son had a enlarged lymphnode on his groin that was found by our GP.

The GP advised going straight to hospital for further investigation which we did and unfortunately we were kept in a ward going through various blood tests, Xrays and ultrasounds over a few days period.

The above tests came back inconclusive apart from finding out that he was anemic and the lymph nodes were “angry”. So the doctor said my son would have to have this lymph node removed to be tested at a lab.

This was removed on the 23/05/25 and we got home late that night after a successful recovery from the surgery.

Me and my partner were advised these results can take up to 10 days and we will hear back about the results from a videocall on the 17th june.

That was all fine we were prepared to wait until then but today we received a letter cancelling the videocall on the 17th and they have changed it to a face to face appointment with “paediatric surgery” on the 13th

The doctors and surgeons suspected lymphoma but couldn’t say without getting the results of the removed lymph node.

Now i am extremely stressed because this videocall has changed to a face to face appointment at the hospital, I know i wont get any answers from the forum but what is everyone’s opinion on this please

My opinion is they have found something and can only discuss this face to face rather than on a videocall, If it was nothing surely they wouldn’t want a face to face appointment

sorry for the long write up

Thanks

So sorry you're going through this. Unfortunately I would suspect the same. With that in mind can you ring for a cancellation and try and get the appointment brought forward?

I'm so so sorry OP, but yes I would strongly suspect the same. Video call would be to say all was fine, face-to-face would be to make a plan for treatment going forward. Also it's unlikely they would find a face-to-face appointment sooner than the telephone one they already found unless they needed to.
