I’m reaching out to this group because I recently went through a very difficult medical experience and I’m looking to connect with others who may have had similar situations.

Last summer, I had a mastectomy due to breast cancer. After the surgery, I was told that a magnet pin had been left inside my chest by mistake. As a result, I had to undergo another surgery last month to remove it.

I’m now in the process of preparing a formal complaint against the NHS and I would really appreciate any advice, support, or shared experiences from others who have been through something similar — especially with filing complaints or dealing with medical negligence.

This has been both physically and emotionally exhausting, and it would mean a lot to speak with others who understand what this feels like. Thank you for allowing me to be here and share my story.

I have no experience in raising a complaint OP, but I used to work in complaints many moons ago.
FwIW we always tried to treat every complainant with compassion and understanding about the difficult time they’ve been through.
I’ve had a cancer related double mastectomy and it’s tough on its own.

I’ve a case going against a hospital trust right now. It started in 2011, but I ran out of time ( limitation of 3 years ) However, my breast surgeon has since been struck off, the trust informed me of this, invited me to a meeting and I’ve now found a firm of solicitors who deal specifically with medical negligence cases. They have agreed to take the case on, as there are a group of us, up
and down the county who have come forward.

I started with PALS
Then a letter to the CEO of the Trust.
Followed by a meeting with the surgeon.
Eventually solicitor involvement.

Warning: Medical negligence cases against the NHS are SLOW and frustrating.

Good luck.
