Referred to haematology for lump in groin

What can I expect from my first haematology appointment?

I have had to beg my doctors to refer me, first doctor didn't even put on my notes that I had a lump in my groin but I told her she needs to do bloods due to all my symptoms. Shock, most bloods came back as 'abnormal'.

Giant platelets were seen and sent to specialist who said 'if patient has any lumps, please do biopsy' and they tried to palm me off with iron tablets due to me having very slight low iron. I had to remind them that I have a lump in my groin and that my sibling passed from lymphoma which is why I am so anxious.

My symptoms are:

Bleeding between periods for 10 months, abdo pain every day, fatigue, extremely itchy skin (at the joints), painful sex, recurrent thrush (already had 3 times this year), always constipated and go around once a week, when I get unwell, I have a really hard time fighting anything off & new lump in groin the size of a pea noticed on 4th May.

Bleeding has been investigated and polyps, fibroids & cervical cancer has been ruled out with a hysteroscopy.

Anyone that has had a referral/lump in their groin, please give me some advice/info. I would really appreciate it. It's consuming my brain at the minute!!

Have you had a CA125 blood test as part of your bloods? It's a good indicator for ovarian cancer which sounds sensible to check given your symptoms.

My daughter had a lump in her groin a few years back. She had a scan but they couldn’t decide what it was. She was then referred to the paediatric consultant (she was 15). He saw her and she was then discussed at the MDT and referred to Birmingham Children’s hospital oncology dept.
The appointment was for the following Monday but on the Friday before, she complained of pain and the lump was significantly bigger and discoloured.
She had it removed the next day. Took 6 weeks for the results and it was benign. recovery was really difficult as it was very big and deep so she had an open would that was dressed and packed daily. They wouldn’t allow her to attend school for several weeks due to infection risk.

Anyway, my TL:DR yes my daughter had one that was benign.

Sorry yes I should have mentioned. Bloods of CA125 came back clear! I have also had to do a FIT test (stool sampling) but haven't heard back yet

Thank you for the response!! Mine isn't painful and I can move it around under the skin. I am very happy your daughter had a positive outcome xx
