I think it differs from place to place so just trying to gauge any kind of norm. Do you know if you are allowed to sit with a relative while they have chemo?

If you are allowed and have first hand experience of this, did most people take someone along every time?

I would really like to support my relative and attend with them for moral support. There is a chance this isn’t allowed at our local place, but they may allow us for the first session.

My mum had chemo last year, elderly and severely deaf. I asked if I could accompany her and was told no so explained she wouldn’t be able to hear what the staff were saying, and please would they take that into account re informed consent because mum will literally agree to anything at all despite not having a clue what is being said.

The first one is a bit scary but you get a look round before that with your partner. But once they have put the drip in and it all starts it’s not scary - the first stuff they give you is steroids and antihistamines which makes you feel a bit sleepy/slightly drunk. I actually enjoy just laying on chair listening to music and reading or watching something. Maybe I’m anti social but defo don’t want to talk to other people!
