Integrated hair system before chemo for hair loss

Hi all, I,ve been diagnosed with breast cancer and will need to have chemo. I'm dreading the whole hair loss thing and I m considering having an integrated hair system instead of going down the wig route. Question is..can I have this system.put in before chemo ie before I start losing my hair? I have quite fine shoulder length hair. I should be starting treatment in July and I,m getting married in September so my hair is a really worrying factor for me😓

Hi
Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, I hope things are going okay for you surgery wise?

I lost my hair for the second time in March and I was distraught. I went to the Lucinda Ellery Hair replacement salon in Manchester after it had all come out. They told me for it to work effectively, you need a percentage of your hair for them to work with. I would find your closest salon and make an appointment for a free consultation. They will tell you everything you need to know about how the system works. The more hair you have to work with, the better. They use ethically sourced human hair apparently.

Warning: it is expensive, but very clever Also the after care is high maintenance and expensive. If funds aren’t an issue, I would definitely consider it. It was too late for me as I was completely bald by the time I had my appointment and it would have entailed literally sticking the hair to my head with tiny pieces of tape, which I didn’t fancy.

Best of luck 😊

I'm really sorry you're going through this.

I'm not sure how that would work because the point of these systems is that they match them to your pattern of hair loss to blend into your remaining hair. They're still wigs just sort of partial wigs that blend in with the remaining hair. If you have one made before your hair falls out then it won't match your needs? It would just have to be a full wig anyway? (Unless I'm misunderstanding you?)

If you had a wig made now (i.e. before any hair loss) then the wigmaker could match it to your existing colour and style. They can do really amazing things. Has your hospital put you in touch with any of the local services to you?

If you had a wig made now that matches your existing hair then you could transition into wearing it without other people having to be aware that it's a wig.

Are you using scalp cooling? I did and kept a lot of hair, it did thin out but that was easy to disguise with hair styling and accessories.

My wife had a reasonably successful experience with the cold cap too. It is an endurance test, but she said it was worth it.
