Had a thought....I was looking through my critical illness cover policy at work, and cancer is included. However, it says that pre-existing conditions are excluded which is usual.

This made me think: If I continue working normally, stay on top of my bills, and don't need to use the cover this time, that's fine. However, if there is a recurrence later and I do need it, would the fact that I haven't disclosed it now be considered a pre-existing condition?

I pay £48 a month and have had this policy for many years although it resets every dec 31st and I have to opt in, so unsure if its continuous? That may not even matter...I think im just trying to make the point ive always had cover many years before diagnosis.

I think i may need to disclose this.....cos if I get a reoccurance down the line it could be rejected. 🤔

Yes if you have had a cancer diagnosis you need to tell them- it's possible you may get a payout now - and ask them about ongoing over. My partner has a stage 3 cancer and got a sizeable payout with an agreement that should there be a relapse what will be paid out is the remaining amount from the 'total' that they would have paid on death.

Ok thank you, i will let them know. I dont necessarily need to claim as im planning on working, but i think its best i let them know now.

There may well be no point in not claiming if you are entitled to do so. They should be able to take you through the options
