Thickening in breast...

Hi,

Just after a hand hold and some advice please.

Last week I noticed a red patch underneath my breast, it felt quite tender. About the size of a 50p piece.
I kept an eye on it and when I noticed it had got a little bit bigger I saw my GP.
She diagnosed me with Mastitis.
I have no temp and do not feel unwell with it, just feels a bit tender.
The GP though she could feel some thickening, prescribed anti biotics and gave me an appointment for next week to check on it.

I have taken 6 days of anti biotics which have made me feel a bit unwell. The redness has gone down a bit but I can definitely feel some thickening. Should I get back in touch with the GP?

I did the thing that I know I should have never done and got straight on Google! So now I've diagnosed myself with inflammatory breast cancer!! Scary!
Thank you in advance

Yes, get back in touch with GP.
Give Dr. Google some time off.
I hope it's nothing, or something easily resolved.
xx,
Shrub

Yes, call GP.
What antibiotics are you on?

I'm on co-amoxiclav. About an hour after I eat I feel so sick!!
I've just noticed that on the patch on thickened skin it's started to look like the skin is peeling, not sure if that's a good or bad thing?

Please go back to your GP. My breast cancer was caught by a routine mammogram. At the same time I had it, 3 of my friends were undergoing treatment. Since then, I've met other women who've had mastectomies, and yet another of my friends is undergoing radiotherapy, after already having had chemo. Fortunately, all those women have excellent prognoses.
My mum died of secondary liver cancer, after having breast cancer. This was 50 years ago when I was 8. She wasn't as fortunate as we are today, when there are excellent treatment regimes.
I know it's scary, but please please go back to your GP. Any breast changes need seeing by a doctor. I'm sure it's nothing serious, but it's always better to get checked out. I hope everything goes well for you

Another voice for going back to your gp.

lots of people get checked and mostly it’s not sinister, but some have an issue and dealing asap is key. My cancer was picked up by a mammogram, caught early before it went into the nodes and I’m going through treatment after operations.

wishing you well.

You must go back to your gp. Inflammatory breast cancer is uncommon but the thickening is probably ok and related to the infection but you must insist on going to the one stop urgent breast clinic to get it checked out. You should have an ultrasound scan and a mammogram depending on your age and maybe a needle biopsy if they can’t say it is normal. Try not to worry and don’t use Dr Google. It is probably nothing but should be properly checked. Good luck

Thanks everyone, I'm going to try and get back to the GPS today
