Waiting for biopsy result

Hi, I'm due to get my biopsy result in a few days and am worried sick.
So 5 weeks ago I got referred to the breast clinic by GP, had a consult with the Dr there and he referred me to have a mammogram done due to having a hint of blood in discharge and he wanted to double check, told me I'd get the results the same day. Had the mammogram done to which the radiologist done a ultrasound on me and then a biopsy the same day due to suspicious findings. After I went to see the Dr again and he said they have found 2cm suspicious area, he went on and said if it's cancer they will take it out in surgery.
Got a letter in post with what had been found and states,
hint of blood from one breast
Increased density
And suspicious area of distortion.
My family have the cancer gene but I've never been tested.
Ive done the worse and googled which obviously wasn't the best thing to do.
Has anyone else had this and has had a positive outcome.
Thank you.

Hi @Teddie2024 it's a really stressful time, waiting for results, and your mind goes into all kinds of scenario. Do you an appointment back at the clinic for the results to be explained to you?

Do you have an appointment that should read.

In my experience when they see during an ultrasound/mammogram a suspicious finding they will do a Biopsy. They probably saw something that doesn't seem right but until the Biopsy has been sent to the lab they are in no position to tell you if they think you have cancer or not. In my case, after an ultrasound a Biopsy was done and 2 weeks later , i was told that I did have cancer stage 3 grade 3 at the age of 26 whilst pregnant.
Do not go alone to the appointment regardless of what they say. It's best to be prepared when they give you the results with written questions and someone who can keep a cool head.
Hope all is well with you and it's not cancer.
But if it is just know that even though there is a lot of stigma around cancer and it sounds so scary, it is possible to beat it. I did. If you have any questions feel free to ask me.
Keep us updated. I will keep you in my prayers.

I hope your results are available quickly and that they are good news.

Sometimes the long awaited results lead to more questions and uncertainty.
In my experience there's a long wait for a final answer.

I’m sorry to hear of this, OP. Echoing posters who advise taking someone with you. It’s a lot to take in.

please do not Google. There’s a load of outdated information, or information from people who’ve had a hard time - those who get good news are not so good at putting it up on the internet! I hope you can keep busy and it is good news.

I know you feel bad your daughter will have to take a day off but you know what life is too short. Health is your number one priority and believe me she will not want to miss being there for her mum.
