My friend has had a rare form of bowel cancer for 5 years and was told in May of this year that she has months to live.
About 3 weeks ago she was put in touch with the palliative team and she stayed 3 nights in the local hospice where they assessed her.
At this point she was in a lot of pain and extremely fatigued.
They prescribed her steroids and it's been nothing short of miraculous. Her fatigue has gone, the pain has lessened. She was able to go on holiday with her family 2 weeks ago and has booked another holiday for January.
Before taking the steroids, her DH told my DH that he didn't think she'd make it much past Christmas and, if they actually got to go on it, it would be her last holiday.
I've been away for the last couple of weeks but will see her in a couple of days.
What I'm asking is....how are the steroids improving her well-being?
Can she stay on them for long?
I know they can't cure/take away the cancer so at what point will their effects wear off?
I don't want to say the wrong thing.
