My mum has been having suspected urime infections on and of for a few months, usually frequent need to urinate etc and been giving antibiotics. Issue has always resolved but come back 2 times

She has always has a week bladder for many years , if coughing etc she tends to leak a bit

6 weeks ago same symptoms , but not given antibiotics as already on some for something different, symptoms improved , urine sample sent of to hospital which was all clear

3 weeks ago, visible blood in urine, given antibiotics, urine sent of which obviously showed blood

Urine sent of again week later to hospital which was 'normal ' no presence of blood etc

Has ultrasound which all looked fine, on the bladder apart from 'small kidney stones' and 'small ovaries '

Blood work done which is all fine

Doctors sending her on 2 week path because of reoccurring , CT scan and cystoscopy.

The notes on NHS app say 'suspected urological cancer ' so now I am freaking out

Please can I have some advise , my mum is saying they are doing it as 'precaution' but why does it say 'suspected ' then

I'm so worried , and I tend to get really stressed about things like this

(65 year old , no smoker)

Sounds precautionary to me. Honestly, GPs rightly send anything that might possibly be cancer to the 2WW because the time scale is so vital for the few cases which actually are cancer.

I'm speaking as someone who has a family history of bladder cancer and had a full cancer work up for equally nebulous symptoms. Try not to worry.

@McCauslandOnSpeeddial thank you for your reply. I tend to over worry all the time. My mum is rather calm, unlike me 😫

I was referred under the 2 week rule for another type of cancer but my GP said that out of 10 people she refers as urgent, only one will have something abnormal which may or may not be cancer. She said it's to rule out cancer, so they can get to the root of the problem without the worry of cancer.
Mine was fine, I hope your mum is sorted out ASAP. I know it's very worrying for you but you won't have to wait long.
