So my mum had primary peritoneal cancer stage 4 many yrs ago.
She had ascites and wás treated and luckily responded to chemo.
As it gets treated like ovarian cancer she was told it would return.
That time she had chemo surgery chemo and a negative brca test.
Last week I was referred for bloating bleeding constipation which turned out to be a small cyst on the left ovary.
Small defined as under 5 cm.
Being monitored every 4 months.
Anyone had this.?
Did it go spontaneously or did you have surgery.

I have an ovarian cyst, under 4cm at last scan (2 days ago).
I've been getting scans since the start of covid, and it hasn't changed in that time.
No surgery offered as only dealing with emergencies during that time.
Was advised later, as a precaution, to have both ovaries and tubes removed, but ultimately my decision.

Whether it is of concern depends on a number of factors , 5cm isn’t that big especially if pre menopause so they’ll likely just keep an eye on it - I had one years ago and it went on its own but now waiting surgery for a 12cm cyst which is of greater concern as I’m now post menopause plus size

I have a 2.5cm simple ovarian cyst. I had scans on it for a couple of years (they kept forgetting to invite me back, otherwise it would have been for one year) but I’ve now been discharged. It is still there, but has not grown.

oOlivfriendsoo do you have a family history of ovarian cancer?
Or was it offered anyway.

No history at all and the consultant isn't concerned that it is cancer, it's a preventative measure in the future.

I don't know if I'm doing the right thing getting them removed or not .

I've had multiple simple ovarian cysts that have gone by themselves. Some have only been found as I was under gynae for endo at those times. And gad gone by the time I'd had surgery a few months later.
Recently had an ovarian fibroma so had a salpingo oopherectomy due to its placement but id already agreed to that as it appeared to be an endometrioma

kitchendecor24 · 28/09/2024 21:02

I had one that went by itself
Currently have 2, one is 4cm and one 9cm but both found to be endometrioma
The 9cm one can just get lost fuck off as it's so painful so that's being removed with endo

Thank you for the replies.
12cm sounds pretty large to me.
I hope it gets sorted out.

I kept being taken in to hospital in pain. At about the 5th visit they actually did an ultrasound while I was there and I had a cyst that was grapefruit sized. It was obviously growing, then bursting, then growing again.

I discussed options with a surgeon and decided to go for surgery to remove the ovary.

The other option was to induce menopause early.
