So worried could this be cancer

Hi all,

I've ignored a niggling pain in my back and left breast for over a year. I'm a solo mum and work full time so I've been trying to ignore it and hope it goes away.

I'm almost 49, and I have had breast implant for over 20 years so it could well be this.

Essentially my left breast is much harder and higher than the other breast. It could be a hardening of the implant which is a possibility.

The GO has put me on a 2 week cancer pathway as this is the quickest option.

She said if I didn't have implant then they would be worried. So the first option is it's more than likely my implant.

How I'm still petrified that I'm going to peace my DD without a parent 😢

The pain can go away for a few months and then come back again. It's really odd.

I'm sorry you're feeling so scared. It seems likely it's the implant, so I'd try and focus on that for now. I've been through cancer tests and it's best to take it one day at a time, with lots of distractions.
Good luck OP.

That’s stressful OP. Having been on the 2 week investigation pathway thing, I remember being reassured that cancer lumps generally are painless. Best of luck!

My understanding is that something like 80% (may be higher) of people on the 2 week cancer pathway don't end up being diagnosed with cancer.

But I don't understand why my breast is so much bigger than the other, it's sort of hard on the top at well.

I don't feel any particular lump, but I do know that there is a cancer called inflammatory breast cancer which doesn't have a lump 😢

I'm going through all scenarios x

I recently was on two week pathway due to lump and pain. It turned out I have dense breast tissue which feels very lumpy anyway, plus costochrondritis causing the pain in breast (also in the back) …good luck x
